This is an excellent book for Heston Blumenthal fans, and unlike his other books, the recipes are achievable by the home cook. He explains how to get the most out of everyday ingredients such as eggs, chicken, chocolate etc.

$38 is an excellent price from an Australian seller, since booko indicates that amazon.co.uk and bookdepository.co.uk are selling it for around $38, and that's not taking into account any foreign currency exhcnage charges if your credit card charges them.

For reviews on the book, see Amazon UK:

I'm not sure why this BigW listing does not have the usual "check in store" button even though it says "In stock online and in store". It would be great if it's available in store - instant gratification.

Not sure how the same price as you can get multiple other sources is a bargain?

Instant gratification! You don't have to wait around for it to be delivered :) Otherwise you can wait for one of those 10% off book depository coupons and save yourself $3.80.

        Instant gratification

Yup, that was my point - if the price is about the same locally, I'd buy local. Except I already own the book…:P

        • Fair enough, buying local is infinitely better. Still doesn't make it a bargain per se.

Cookbooks are evil though, I buy all mine secondhand, really bargainy, and I still don't get any value from them LOL. I sort of forget to open them again after the first initial flick. They do look nice all lined up though. It's more of a bargain NOT to buy them at all LOL.

        • Where do you get them second hand? I look at them on amazon (dirt cheap!) but then the delivery fee is crazy since they are actually just referral sites from amazon. Some of them are like 4 bucks (as opposed to the brand new price of say 30) - But then delivery adds on 30bucks which just defeats the purpose

        • Charity shops or eBay.

      US$ 48.30

      Thats what I get

      • You're right. Damn you booko.com.au!

Haha I got really excited!! 20bucks. F*** yeah.

    • Booko does say $20.51, but the actually prices in the link suggest otherwise. Booko can be unreliable with Abebook pricing sometimes, obviously the turnover is quick if a very cheap price appears.

    • It says that price is USD 28.66 and shipping is USD $19.64. I also followed that link from booko.

      • I agree, Booko is wrong.

  • the recipes are achievable by the home cook

Lol, yes the home cook that has ready access to liquid nitrogen and blast freezers :)

I jokes. For those after a sample recipe from the book, check this out: http://www.waterstones.com/wat/images/special/pdf/hestonatho…
