Literally every one of them seems to be a scam!!
Surely people aren't falling for this?
I would think there would definitely be people looking to sell their PS5 but every one I message says - go to X website - or - email me here…
Bloody scammers!

It's the same as Macbooks. The level of fakes is crazy, you look at the profile and you think there'd be no way…..but look closer at the pics and they are all the same, just cropped, rotated etc.
thank for logging into your ghost account.
Maybe if trolling were not such a problem on this site it wouldn't be necessary.
I'd still mine if it were still worth at least RRP. My PS+ expired and I think I could go without until the PS5 Pro or some kind of bundle at least. But alas the used value has dropped so I'll probably keep it.
if you absolutely need to buy second hand, dont use facebook marketplace
use ebay so u ahve some semblence of buyer protection and higher probability that the seller is genuine
the extra few bucks u might save on facebook isnt worth it
for popular high value items like consoles, the chances of scoring an "insane deal" is very low. Its high in demand in enough that a seller would have no reason to sell for significantly below secondary market value.
and if they arent offering a great deal, why would a buyer bother with them in the first place. far better to buy new or from ebay.
You can also keep an eye on classifieds here (still risky) or more close knit forums like OCAU

Like all basic email and telephone scams, if you can see through it immediately, you are not its intended target.
Same applies for these Facebook/gumtree scams.
Theres always someone vulnerable that will eventually fall for it.
Rules to follow on Marketplace, regardless of PS5 or not:
When I sold my PS4 Pro I had it set up so they could try it, then reset it. Except it took ages to reset it and I needed a USB cable because the controller needed resyncing and it was a huge hassle. I should have reset it first, then set it up so they could test it, then let them reset it again at their house. And to be honest they didn't seem interested at all in seeing it being tested anyway.
If you're buying in person, you're unlikely to face issues.
Scams are easy to spot. Here are red flags:
Unfortunately some people do get suckered into those scams.
You don't want to buy a used PS5 anyway. Buy a brand new one from a reputable shop with full warranty and ACL coverage.
There's far too many scams as you've seen, but also defective ones, controllers with stick drift, not well maintained consoles that shut off randomly, possibly opened up and tampered with as well as banned consoles that can never be unbanned etc. It's not worth the saving.
