I bought these Gel-Rocket 10 at full price and would recommend them for badminton. They provide great support/comfort and are the best badminton shoes for the price. People also use them for squash and volleyball.

The women version is also on sale: https://www.asics.com/au/en-au/gel-rocket-10/p/AOP_1072A056-…

Details:
The GEL-ROCKET™ 10 is a multi-purpose indoor court sport shoe that offers good stability and allows easy movement for a range of court athletes.

This shoe is designed with a flexible, synthetic upper construction that's breathable, comfortable and supportive for side to side movements.

A TPU TRUSSTIC™ application in the midsole is designed to help resist over-twisting and improve stability during quick transitions. The rearfoot GEL™ technology creates comfortable underfoot cushioning.

Its WRAP-UP outsole and outrigger are functional support components that are helpful during side-to-side movements.

Good reliable durable shoes. Bought two more pairs which will be my fourth and fifth. Thanks mate. Went through Shopback for another 5.6% which would be great if it works.

Our 14 year old wears these every lunch break at school for volleyball, club training & games 2 nights/week.

+2 to good quality and longevity.

Shows $77 and free delivery(Sydney)for me. I'm a OneASICS member.

  • Can you use it for everyday as well?

    • +3

Only for indoor. You will wear them out very quickly if you use them outdoor.

      • Why is that?

        • +3

The court shoes don't have your typical rubber sole.

        • +4

          Sole destroying

Lol to people who negged my post. it was a genuine question. Too many sensitive people nowadays.

@Colombian: I wouldn't worry about the suck holes on this platform , it's not life-changing just in case you needed reminding !

  • How stable are they for lateral movement?

Got some pretty decent players that only wear these at my table tennis club. Pretty good from what I've heard.

  • Thanks OP, I had no intention of getting shoes tonight but just ordered some GEL-TRABUCO TERRA Trail Running Shoes, love that ASICS sell size 15 shoes and this will be my first Trail style for everyday and bush walking. Hope they last considering the $126 price! most expensive runners i have ever got.

    Mixed reviews from badminton players.

I would say it varies depending on the player. Some players like the really light with a lot of court feel, not a lot of cushioning - its faster to get around the court. I prefer more cushioning; so shoes are heavier but easier on the knees. I wouldn't say they were bad - but I generally prefer badminton specific shoes. Other thing to look for would be how tough the big toe area is as well; as badminton players can drag the back foot - I've had shoes that have died in 2-3 months because that area has worn out.

This specific pair seem to be more cushion; heavier type of badminton shoes - and would work for most people. As with any sport - footwear is most important; so spend on what suits you.

      • any recommendations for good pairs around $100? the yonex/victor ones are closer to $200 these days

        • Protech brand shoes are around $100 but I'd spend a little more and get the Yonex 65X3.

    • I wore them for 4-5 years for baddy and they're not bad for beginners/lower intermediate or a budget training shoe. But as you improve I recommend going for the netburners (better grip, ankle support, cushion) or yonex/victor/lining badminton shoes.

foot issues for the few minutes you play badminton where you mostly stand around?

  • Thanks, good deal!

Just started back playing squash after a decade break. Too good of a price not to grab a pair. Cheers OP

      Welcome back. Bring a friend!

  • Anyone know how these go for gym use and running? Any feedback would be awesome!

    • +2

      usable, but wouldn't advise it.
i would get running shoes for running. any shoes are fine for the gym as long as you aren't squatting heavy, then i would go barefoot or use chucks.

      • Thank you for the feedback, greatly appreciated

  • Thanks OP. Will definitely be better than my current pair of Lotto bought for $60 delivered for squash which are wearing out

those are ugly, i use basketball shoes for badminton and volleyball.

    • Quite a few badminton venues I've been to would suggest to use badminton shoes as they are non-marking and won't leave black marks all over their court. Otherwise I agree that I don't find these as aesthetically pleasing.

These are very narrow and if you don't have narrow feet then move on 😊

    • Thanks! I've got wide feet. Best to consult with podiatrist

As a squash player that toe drags I wear out gel rockets within a couple of months, unsure if the next model up, gel tactics, they sell are any better. For a longer lasting shoe I highly recommend Salmings indoor range, I usually get a year or more out of a pair.

So something to weigh up if that’s also a problem for you, otherwise you spend the same amount replacing them sooner.

    • Only a year… wow.

  • Aus gets shafted in colours, I have a pair in white and gold, look so much better!

  • Thanks, good deal!
