how many plates can you girls/guys eat? I eat an average around 6 plates before I get completely stuffed.

In Japan plenty of places do Y100 per plate, all day every day.
    Just sayin..

      I miss Japan :(

        me too.

  • Sushi train makes one of the best tasting sushi, better than markoto.

    • Really? I quite like Makoto but it's too expensive. Sushi Hotaru comes close and is real cheap at $3 per late. I would expect Sushi Train to be lower in quality since there are so many branches.

    • The fishes in markoto are fresher, they buy new fishes everyday at fishmarket!

    • I think Makoto is way better. Also worth checking out the Ozeki Sushi in Chatswood next to Chatswood Chase.

  • Expect 3 hour lines to get in…Can't wait!

  • Don't they all… All the Japanese restaurants prepare cut the fish and leave it in the fridge so it's all the same.

  • Awesome find, thanks for posting zelda707

  • If you're in Sydney and are a student, Takumi Sushi at Market City is only $2.50 a plate, or $3ea if you're not a student. The sushi is actually pretty great as well.

All sushi lovers should check out the movie, 'Jiro Dreams of Sushi'.

  • Best one I'd recommend is the one that is a level below kino"s book shop next to wagamama, at townhall, and the one in Sussex street called sushiro right next to regal Chinese restaurant.

  • Do they actually make the sushi in-house as shown in the pic or does it come from a factory? Is it authentic? The factory stuff and most places in Sydney is "Korean" sushi.

    • They make the sushi in-house. You can see them making them

Kammo, most Japanese restaurants make them right in front of you, but the fact is alot of Japanese restaurants are owned by Chinese or Korean now days, since opening Japanese restaurants make great income, but other than Japanese people making it, it tastes utter crap when Korean or Chinese try to copy it. I mean would u eat Chinese food that is cooked by western people? Don't get me wrong but taste pretty bad..

What I meant was Japanese trained chefs. I don't about the ethnicity of the chefs.

In Bondi there's an African sushi chef who trained in Japan. In the city there's a Japanese chain restaurant (not sushi) with a Chinese head chef who again learnt his trade in Japan but was posted here and trained by that company.

A lot of these Korean places aren't formally trained, ie not authentic.

  • They've also got some lead up specials, like $1 off a couple of dishes each month. I was in there yesterday. Very tasty, only problem is the size of the portions vs. cost. I could easily eat $50+ in this place, up to $100 even, if i was grabbing the most expensive plates.
    $2 plates = awesome!!
    3hr line up = suck! :(

    Today is the day!

  • 1:23pm, queue at Neutral Bay is 30mins according to staff I spoke to on phone.

    • 2:30pm still 30mins

      • 4:30ish, still 30mins.

However take-away was almost instant. So we went that option and ate in the car.

Very nice food. Will consider eating there again for the full experience.

I went there today around lunch for this deal(bris), bit of a crowd out front, waited about an hour, they had a number system in place, takeaway was apparently faster, but I wanted the dine-in experience. and wow worth the wait, it was awsome, we werent at all rushed once seated, they had about 8 cooks doing there thing, great to watch, good mix of sushi not just the cheap-shit coming out as one might assume, you could request what you want if wanted, staff were super friendly, they seemed to pull it off really well, I'm super impressed, so much so that I'd actually consider going back again and paying standard price.

    • Same here… very impressed with the staff. Very polite etc. Hot water refilled for hot tea all the time, orders taken with a smile and food served in a timely manner! Hats off!!!
Wait was about 45 mins, but worth it. I must say, this is the best deal I've seen so far. All plates were $2 except for the Sashimi as you would expect. They would also take custom made orders for the hand rolls and all for $2!
      Would definitely go back!

  • Dropped by hoping to grab some sushi for dinner. Packed with people. Large groups waiting outside. Decided to give it a miss. Took about ten minutes just to get out of the car pack
