PSA - Changes to MyPost Business Services and Postage Rates

Just another PSA for y’all who use Aus Post business rates. I’ve taken directly from an email sent to all people who use the service sent within the last few minutes.

We are focused on simplifying our products and services. From 3 July 2023, the International Economy Air parcel service will no longer be available via MyPost Business. You may consider using the International Standard air service which will continue to be available via MyPost Business, remain eligible for Send and Save savings, and includes tracking visibility.

If you wish to continue using the International Economy Air parcel service, we encourage you to complete an online customs form at auspost.com.au/declareonline, and visit your local Post Office to lodge and pay for postage. These purchases will still contribute towards your savings band however Send and Save savings will no longer apply.

Volume-based savings sending internationally with MyPost Business will decrease by between 2.5% and 5% for select destinations for customers on Bands 3-5.

There will be a new price of $13.95 for MyPost Business Parcel Pickups for customers on Bands 0-3. There is no change for other Bands.

We will be introducing price increases across Australia Post retail domestic and international parcel and letter services. You will continue to receive savings on eligible products and services relative to retail rates, depending on your spending.

  • Anyone who purchases on eBay will be in the firing line. Sellers will just pass on this increase to the consumer.

Small online businesses are already struggling. Feels like we're subsidising Amazon.

Yes, I sell items on eBay and will be passing on the cost increase.

There are some things that can be done to mitigate the increases. Stock up on prepaid envelopes for example. But the basic package costs are going up and there's nothing that can be done.

Last year's under 500g price increase was from $9.30 to $9.70. Now it will be $10.60. 14% within two years.

The only good thing about increasing postage costs is it makes achieving the next Band in MyPost discounts a little easier… until AP fiddle with the Bands. They're already cutting some discounts.

      • What's more messed up for eBay sellers of smaller items, "own packaging" up to 500g is now CHEAPER than a small satchel. How does that work? Turn the Aust Post branded satchels inside out - then they become "own packaging" hence cheaper to generate labels and post?

Australia Post already charges like a wounded bull, but delivers like a 1 legged camel. To put it mildly, you have a gall. You have not even caught up to deliver bang for buck on a consistent level.
(And yest online sellers / sml business have acarried a lot of the can, thus far)
When the recession kicks in and Australia Post lays off contractors and some staff , imagine the quality of service, then.
The branching out into non postal services has meant further impacts on the core services. All those other non postal services will suffer too.
Aust Post could re-badge to A Failure Post, and no-one would notice

When is the one day express guarantee coming back? Their covid excuse has gone, what's their reason now?
