Tried the IKEA ones? Actually pretty decent.

  • If you don't mind, can I ask a question … why?
Often people have a reason - e.g. do you have an odour source you can't get rid of? E.g .a smoker in the household, pet smells, etc? It's best to try get as fresh air as possible and remove impurities.

IMHO it's not a good thing to have air pollutants in your home all the time.
I'm commenting because I have fragrance sensitivities so I've had to become more aware of this sort of thing, the wrong chemical in a scented or perfumed anything can give me debilitating headaches for over an hour even if I leave immediately.

I had a family member that would do this to mask smells so I couldn't visit their house.
I had to ask my workplace to ask a coworker to stop putting scented things at their desk just to mask their smoker smell as it was worse than the smell of smoke as I was getting headaches.

I'm amazed by how many people are ignorant to this issue. Some people are more impacted then others, but its symptomatic of a foreign pollutant in our air - e.g. see:

The main culprit of candle headaches in fragrance oils are phthalates. These are a group of chemical compounds mainly used to make plastics soft and flexible. Phthalates are not one single thing and research continues on the safety of these compounds.

"One thing is for sure - some are absolutely known to be problematic. Certain phthalates have been shown to cause cancer in animals, others are known endocrine disruptors (read - messes with your hormonal system). Some have also been linked to the same kinds of coughing, wheezing, dizziness, and headaches you see with Toluene and Benzene."

"exposure to scented candles for more than 60 min showed higher occurrence of headache, sneezing and wheezing."

"Fragrance-lovers are being warned about the amount of potentially toxic chemicals released into Australian homes when scents, such as candles, are used."
“Candles and any scents that are being emitted … are associated with the emission of volatile organic compounds and also small particles that stay in the air,” she said.
“When we burn (candles), during the combustion process … we have a lot of little particulates that are being released and many of them are going directly to our lungs.
“It is well established that that is causing a range of different negative health effects.”

I want the smell of a hotel lobby in my home.

      • Scent Australia Or Scent Central sell commercial systems that can achieve that.

  • I don't know too much about other candle brands, but my partner usually gets Glasshouse or Ecoya candles and diffusers which have some nice scents.

  • Depends on how much you want to pay. Dusk has lovely candles which retain their fragrance, and are reasonably priced. Glasshouse candles also have long-lasting fragrance and again not exorbitant. Maison Balzac's scented candles aren't too expensive. Then there's Jo Malone although I'd keep that for a special occasion.

  • i have wood wick ones

Serenity by Jan. Good for the office.

  • I would use a sonic diffuser instead. You can add a few drops of scent into the water.

  • There’s only one time of the day you need candles ;) And then only the primo stuff

  • Beeswax candles

  • Don't know the brand but my neighbour swears by the Costco ones, 3 for $90. $30 a candle seems a bit rich for me, but I suppose it's classier than plug in glade.

    around The House

Probably work better using them inside the house though…

  • Glasshouse candles are nice, if you're in Sydney there is a factory outlet in Rydalmere. What's available is variable, sometimes lots of nice stuff but sometimes very limited.

SOi soy candles are also nice.
