Hi all,
I just noticed that Zeboyd's Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness (OtRSPoD) 3 and 4 are free-to-play on Steam.
Both went free on 1st May according to https://isthereanydeal.com/. I found an announcement on Zeboyd's Twitter feed confirming that they are genuine freebies: https://twitter.com/ZeboydGames/status/1653151895199051777
I wonder if there are other well-rated single player games on Steam that have gone free-to-play?
Some notes: I think when you add OtRSPoD 3 to your account OtRSPoD 4 is also added. I needed to run xnafx40_redist.msi
in the game folder to get OtRSPoD 3 to start in Windows 10 (dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe
was apparently already installed on my system). Also, both seem to work without Steam running if you prefer DRM-free games.
Solid games, definitely worth a play (even if you haven't played the first 2 games in the series, which were subpar).
A love letter to the 'old' JRPGs with some good innovations (e.g. items replenish every battle, etc, so hoarding goodies 'just in case' isn't an issue).
