Well work has Milwaukee tools so I can easyly grab there battery's if I use a battery adaptor. Am I able to charge it on my Ryobi charger.
Not sure if there is any smarts or something that gets used.

I don’t suppose you know of a source that lists which tool batteries have onboard BMS?
Battery management in the tool seems like a daft design decision. Most users would have more tools than batteries, so that it’s likely that there are more battery management chips than necessary.
Am I able to charge it on my Ryobi charger.
Is that the first time something has been bolded with a space? Can someone confirm please? I'll look forward to the news article.
This is not the first bolded space.
Considering the devastation that lithium battery fires can cause, it would be best to buy a MW charger. Claim it on tax, get a reimbursement - up to you!
Less risk, less fire.
With battery technology changing forever
the more you save the bigger the fire….
Charging millwauke battery in Ryobi charger
No don't do that. Bad things will happen.

I'm confused, if you have 'easily' grab tools/battery, why not just grab a charger as well or at the very least, buy a charger for your home?
Or by 'grab' you really mean steal and chargers are too hard to 'borrow'?
I'll grab a millwauke charger as well easy solved.
I have prolly 6 Ryobi chargers laying arround with a few 2.5 and 9ah batts, so thought I'd grab a few extra Batts to populate the spare chargers.
Yes the 9ah lasts ages and absolutely it's unneeded but work dead set has batts by the truck load.
As I stated above - you run the risk of permanently damaging the Milwaukee batteries as they can be discharged too far as there is no protection.
I wired one of these into my adapter in order to cut current flow at a predetermined voltage to prevent this. I'm sure your work will not be happy if you brick their batteries.

we have that many it would not matter.
*facepalm
Can I have some then?

@mapax: Well work ordered a shit load of kits. To lazy to fill out redemption paperwork for free batts so me and 1 or 2 others did.
They also ordered the 6 pack chargers which came with 6 new 5ah batts per one.
Some guys wanted 12ah batts so abandoned there 5ah batts.
Then drill/rattle gun sets come with a M12 batt and we have no M12 gear so I've taken those home already.
No, Ryobi tools have the battery safety in the battery, Milwaukee are in the tool - also for this reason, if you use an adapter to run a Milwaukee battery in a Ryobi tool, you need to integrate a low voltage shut off circuit or you will damage the battery as it will discharge too much.
