How to Wire Shelly 4pm Power Monitoring

Well im going to install a few shelly 4pm devices. But as it has 1 neutral input and 4 outputs im unable to output to 4 RCD's

Would i be best just installing a larger RCD (40A) to feed it then loop out to 4 x CB's for each circuit. However if i do have a nucience trip its going to take out 4 circuits.

Just brain storming really before i commit

    Are you installing this yourself?

    Do this

  • Im a lecky by trade but do no domestic work. Plus when asking a contractor mate he was confused by what I want to do.

Why bother with a power saving device. I've been told electricians just run wiring around the metre at their own house.

    • Yea that's plan b, but I'd prolly loose my license.

It's easy to steal power hard to do it without being caught.

I just want to monitor and control my circuits.

I already do some devices such as AC and hotwater via Shelly so I can turn on 30min from home. As well as turn hot water off and on as I'm often on shift for 10 days.

Oh, its nothing to do with the time of day. It is actually power monitoring on 4 circuits.

  • Why can't you output to 4 separate RCDs?
That neutral input is just there for the device, isn't it? All current measurements are taken from the active lines

  • just get a neutral link so you can get 4 neutrals. RCD's will work fine as long as the current entering the loop of each circuit is the same as the current leaving.

  • Yea looks like the wiring is horrible. But looks like it's not 1 in 4 out but. 4 seperate pairs of terms.

  • him it's a bit off topic, but do you know what is the difference between the Shelly 4PM and Shelly 3EM? 3EM seems to be dearer
