Discounted Coles Mastercard Gift Cards. What Do You Do in Case of Refunds?

The merchant says they refunded my transaction, however, coles gift card does not show any reverse transactions and does not update the balance. The landline number that was on the card does not work.

Who do I contact to get the money back? Has anyone come across this problem? These cards are very popular at ozbargain. I still have the physcial card and it is still active.

Previously by Indue, it took a good 2 weeks.

I gave it around 3 weeks and still nothing. Thanks for the info though.

I gave you 25 minutes then thought you might be asleep. I won't use it again. 😉

Three weeks sounds like an unusually long time, so I wonder whether the refund really has been processed onto your gift card. You may want to ask the merchant to confirm whether they have actually processed a refund and to which card they have processed the refund onto.

You also may want to give calling the gift card issuer (InComm) another go, because apparently calls will not always go through.

Btw, in terms of my previous experience with Coles Mastercard gift cards and refund transactions:

    • For a card-present refund transaction (where you have to swipe the card to process the refund), the last refund I had took 3 business days to be processed onto the gift card, whereas another refund took 5 business days. There was no indication that there was a pending refund transaction on the balance check page.

    • For a card-not-present refund transaction, I had one refund be processed within seconds of a transaction being cancelled, whereas another refund took a couple of business days. Again, there was no indication that there was a pending refund transaction on the balance check page.

Thanks that's very helpful as well.

    • Hi WookieMonster, do you reckon there will be a Coles Mastercard Gift Card promotion shortly?

      • Yes, but probably only for bonus points.
