I found a Kmart voucher that i received when returned some of the products but the expiry date on voucher is 3 month old.
So what are the chances Kmart will allow me to use voucher or re-issue new voucher?
Anyone had similar experience?

done tht and they said they can't do anything about it… !
it was my fault as manager was giving me cashback that time but i asked for voucher as i was going to use it for something else but somehow never used it .. !

I'm not a betting person, but I would say your chances re Buckleys.
The manager said "they can't do anything…". It must be tough to be the manager of a major organisation like K-Mart and not even be powerful enough to issue a new voucher to replace one that was never used. I think K-Mart's attitude is fairly pathetic, and your custom, in future, might be better directed to their competition. This recent attitude of "it's us and all our power against the hapless customer, whom we can punish at every opportunity" flourishes, because we, the customers, accept it and just keep going back for more.
@AlanJ: What a load of bollocks talk. The op is 100% in the wrong. Kmart haven't ganged up on him. He requested a voucher, chose not to use it in time then according to you it's Kmart's fault because he forgot. Their ease of refunds, bang for buck on items is second to none. If you make a mistake then instead of blaming big business wear it like an adult and move on.
PS and following on further down the op spoke to manager who honoured the voucher. So you were wrong again
@Geoff01: You misunderstood my comment. I didn't try to imply that it was K-Mart's FAULT that the OP didn't use his voucher. In fact, I don't think the idea of "fault" was mentioned at any time in the comment. I was trying — clearly not very well! — to make the point that, if a customer approaches a major retailer with a legitimate request, such as extending the date on an unused voucher (which really had a very short life span, don't you think? Just three months!), and it is clearly a JUST thing to do to extend that expiry date (since we are talking about the customer's money, which really shouldn't suddenly become K-Mart's money, simply because they attached a condition to it), then the fair and reasonable thing to do here is for the retailer to say, "No problem, would twelve months (or similar) be convenient for you?", and, suddenly, no one has lost and everyone is happy. Most stores used to be run like that. They went out of their way to make sure the customer left happy. Oh, I do bow to your last sentence…. I didn't read far enough to see that this is exactly how things turned out. I am happy for the OP that he didn't lose anything!
The voucher is usually valid for 3 months, so it’s been 6 months since you returned your items. I don’t like your chances.
Best to use it asap, or to retain the receipt and get the refund back to your original method or payment.
Or… you wait until you know you will buy something to return the items. Their policy is 60 days but if the product is re-saleable they’ll usually refund to a voucher without the receipt so won’t know when the 60 days started.
i returned that item last november and voucher was expired in March 2023 …. and i found it today while cleaning up … not sure why voucher can't last long because it was like cash but instead a voucher was given … !
If you had the receipt you could have asked for your refund as the original form of payment. Next time, you can query this at time of refund.
They don’t want the voucher to last long as they don’t want to have money owing to people for ages. Use the voucher asap in future.
Remember: Companies do not have to offer refunds for change of mind.
I have original receipt and mode of payment was cash and I may have asked for voucher to avoid having cash used on something else but I now lost everything… !
@SydBoy: Go in store & ask at the Service Desk & show them the original receipt. You may have more luck if you say you have items for immediate purchase so they don't have to reissue another voucher.
@[Deactivated]: Thanks… Immediate purchase worked but importantly the advice I got from their call centre is speak to manager and I did that and it worked.
@SydBoy: I feel like you're only half thanking me however you were able to spend the $40 so all's well that ends well
@SydBoy: "but I now lost everything" $40 value…….
@SydBoy: So you may have actually requested the voucher, but are now upset that the voucher that you requested expired? 🧐
I reckon kajke’s suggestion is your best hope. Take the original receipt and the expired voucher and ask. But do not be surprised if they say no.
And remember this experience as a lesson for next time.
Time machine.
What is the value?
$40
Probably just move on and lesson learnt. Bugger.
Lesson is never give up … went to store and spoke to the store manager not the customer service staff and he allowed me to purchase me something else for the same amount… !
@SydBoy: Great result. Good to see you followed the 3 P's.
With inflation, 6 months worth, probably only worth $37.50 now
When you say "Kmart Return Voucher", are you referring to a Kmart Returns gift card? If so, that should be issued by Coles Group. If you contact Giftcards.com.au (which is the part of Coles Group that issues Kmart gift cards, amongst others), they will probably be happy to extend the expiry for you.
I am also surprised that you were given a gift card with three months expiry, because I cannot figure out how that is legal.
I purchased goods for cash in September 2022 and they were returned next day. Kmart gave me voucher instead of cash. Now that voucher had expiry for six months and it expired in March 2023 … Hope you get it now?
Nah it's one of the print outs on a receipt paper and then you scan the barcode at checkout
Thanks everyone… I went to store and manager was so cool that he override expire date of voucher and accepted it to purchase something else for same amount and I managed to use expired voucher.
Thanks all.. !
It is time to check if any others left unused or expired ,instead of seach Coles PMCs in a car all around Sydney.
Cry….
The bottom line is that the retailer MAY provide a credit to you if you have changed your mind. If the goods are not faulty or otherwise unusable, then you don't have any consumer rights to a refund or credit voucher. Some of the large retailers allow people to exchange unwanted items but they have no legal obligation to do so.
You might be able to convince the manager to replace your expired voucher but if they refuse, then you are out of options - good luck
Obviously you haven’t read the thread. He was able to use the voucher.
Contact Kmart and ask?
