Have to be ebay Plus member for this price. I just let my subscription run out since I couldn't see the value.

    • +1

      Sorry just fixed the title

    • +2

$19/year is decent value for eBay Plus taking into consideration they offer you a $30 voucher when you go through the cancellation steps.

      • +4

Yeah but they didn't offer me a $30 voucher when I cancelled..
        So no deal.

      • Do you get free returns with eBay plus?

        • +1

You should. But the seller sometimes dedutcs the return shipping expenses from your refund.

          • +1

@loropy9: You should get a free postage paid return label. Contact eBay if they don't provide this.
Also contact eBay if they don't give full refund.

    • +1

Make a new account and use the free month of ebay plus

      • Yep. Did that a couple of times.
Just wish it was worth $49 a year.

    • IMO better value with Amazon prime

      • Really? Nothing beats Amazon next day delivery

        • +6

Yeah that's what I mean. Amazon>eBay. I've been on eBay since 2005 2000+ feedback probably only get 4-6 things a year now via eBay like vacuum sealer rollers and vacuum bags etc. Amazon ftw, I was blown away with my first return process! Instant refund once scanned at post office.

BG any deals on Oppo X5 Pro?

  • It says Vodafone unlocked, does it mean there is Vodafone bloatware inside like logos at start ecc?

    • If unlocked, surely you can just factory rest and get rid of any bloat

    • +2

Last i dealt with one of those, the bloatware stays like vodafone apps and tools that appear even after factory resetting an unlocked (originally locked) device. But usually they can just be uninstalled unless they've changed it over the years

      • +1

Root and use custom ROM to get rid of Vodafone crap.

        Voids warranty once rooted.

        • +1

Can't say no to a root

    • +1

i had this one , no bloatware

  • +3

The most important info missed in the description: MediaTek MT6877 Dimensity 900 5G (6 nm)

    • Can you explain what that means in relation to the deal? Is it positive or negative?

      • I was expecting a little better, but it's about average.

      • +1

"Friends don't let friends buy MediaTek" but that's a whole lot of phone for $300 so…

    • +1

      Mediatek sux

      • +2

        MediaTek 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

  • It says single sim. JB is selling the dual sim one. There may be other differences.

    • Got the JB one for $638 last December

  • -1

use both code or just one?

  • Looks like a different model from JB, I bought it from this deal and enjoying the phone since then. Working really well, charges super-fast with a good battery and no issues during the whole year I am using it with two sim-cards (work and personal) as a main phone.

    • my one only support 1 sim, there is something in the middle of second sim car slot makes not available to insert the second sim card

  • +5

Can people stop calling persistent storage "ROM"?

    • +4

      Cancel them?

      • +2

I am not big on cancellations, but this might be one of those cases where I make an exception

    • It's not ROM, it's 'Persistent storage' – but that doesn't have the same byte, does it?

      …I'm here 'till Thursday

    • +1

What actually is mobile storage though? NAND Flash? EEPROM?

ROM is just so easy even if it is incorrect lol

      • +4

Good luck saving your data to ROM.

How about just "256Gb Storage"? Memory and storage is easy enough for the laymen

        • +2

If we're talking about laymen ROM is easy enough for them tbh, the amount of people I have to explain they don't have 128GB of RAM in their phone to lol.

You know what I'm convinced. Storage and memory are completely different words so even the tech illiterate shouldn't mix them up.. right? 😅

  • Order total AU $383.45- for non ebay member

  • Bought the nokia g60 this morning. It was $310 after cashbacks. Any thoughts on which is best?

    • How to get cash back for Nokia g60? I also wonder which one is better.

    • main thing would be you have a rather stock and vanilla android experience and a snapdragon processor, although this phone has more grunt for sure.

  • I'm looking to replace an old android phone for my dad. Can someone tell me if this is worth the cost for the performance it offers? I'm not too up to date on android scene atm.

    • I can't comment on this specific model but I got my mum an oppo ax5 and thing is still going strong. Has survived a lot of wear and tear and just lost 70% of the earpiece volume. Suspect it was submerged 🤣👍
Recommend an oppo for sure especially at $299 the specs look great!

    • I got this for my wife and she says its a great phone, no issues here

  • +2

    'DSLR-Like' rofl.

  • +1

Don't even need a phone but i just ordered one. As far as I understand if i decide i don't need it I can just return it through eBay plus?
Haven't done any research yet but I wonder how this stacks up to the Motorola phones that go on sale at JB HIFI for around this price.

    • What price? I am seeing $383 at checkout

      • +1

You need two codes and eBay Plus.

        • thanks ! ordered one!

  • this one ONLY single sim while JBHF is Dual

    • +1

Because the phone appears to be Vodafone branded. It will be unlocked but I believe was supposed to be sold through Vodafone. The JB version doesn't suffer from this affliction.

  • Just dropped my poco f3 and obliterated the screen hopefully this is a good enough replacement..

    • +1

Should do well enough until the Poco F5 is on sale for $450. It is 2x charge speed which is cool.

      • Was looking for a poco f5 deal but nothing yet damnit.. 🤣🤣

  • +1

my poco f3 still working, I have 4 or 5 android phones, should I get 1 more, this is real cheap

    • +1

My huawei nova 5T still going strong

  • Thanks OP

  • Im very tempted to buy. My Android phone still works but it's 5 years old and getting a bit outdated now.

  • +3

I have this same phone bought last year in July for about $700. Though I'm hurt a bit that the price drops so quickly, I'd have to say this phone is really good, battery holds well, charges super fast, camera is not the greatest but ok, fast processing.

    • Sam3 with x5pro. Half the price. It's one year later. It will drop further once be model released

  • Bummer, I bought this yesterday from allphones on eBay for $397.16 :( edit, I actually bought the non-vodaphone unlocked version, out of curiosity is there much difference?

    • +2

OS updates for Vodafone version is controlled by Vodafone. (same for Optus /Telstra version). Lots of unhappy users on this forum: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1184682081675881/

      • maybe I'm just shit at facebook since I never use it but I can't see any unhappy users. got a direct link to unhappy posts? since worrying about slow updates via vodaphone is the only thing holding me back from getting it.

        • +1

Instead of sending you one or two links, here are the steps to search for articles in FB:

          1) Join the OPPO Group on FB
          2) Click on the "Magnifying Glass" and search for Optus or Telstra or Vodafone.

          • +1

@bobokingdom: I didn't join but I tried searching the group using the magnifying glass (lol I'm not that stupid) for terms like 'Vodafone' and 'OPPO Find X5 Lite' but didn't see anyone saying anything about not getting updates. Let alone lots of people.

    • +1

      your one is dual sims

      • Thanks guys

  • cant go wrong for 300, pulled the trigger for mrs ageing phone replacement.

    • very good phone won't disappoint you

  • oppo sux, tortured myseld with an a52 and the ui is just the worst, plus the million other design IDGAF given by oppo

  • I feel like the motorola G82 for $200 was a better deal and more quality phone. That was a superb deal.

  • Seems to be a decent upgrade for my pre-teen, bought one, thx OP

  • Hey, I noticed that this phone is "Vodafone Unlocked". Does that mean that I can use sim cards from any carrier? I am using a prepaid kogan sim card and i wish to still use it for this phone.

    • +1

yes, kogan sim is ok as well as any carriers

      • thanks will buy this phone then :)

  • +2

I ordered one and got it today. It is on Andriod 11 and saying up to date. Security patch stops in Apri 2022. I just messaged seller and see what they reply.

    • According to an above comment the OS updates are controlled by Vodafone (even though it's unlocked it's still originally a Vodafone version of the phone) so maybe try contacting them as well? I ended up getting one as well but mines still on the way so keep updated please as I and others will probably have the same issue.

      • +1

seller replies and provide a general guide how to update the system. It is useless as these general steps will not work for this one

        • well shit. thats disappointing. I've seen posts of people saying their Find X5 Lite got the android 13/coloros 13 update within the last few months so it definitely should get it but as said it could be a carrier problem in that vodafone need to push the updates.

  • +1

Same as bond008. Not happy Jane. Tried using the chat on Vodafone… They were useless.

  • Mines still apparently at the depot so I probably won't get it till next week but if this can't be fixed I'll probably be returning it. eBay listing clearly says it's running android 12 and it should be able to get 13.

    • will they accept return once it is opened? I know some seller like JB will refuse unless it has quality issue

      • +1

The eBay listing is incorrect. It says it's android 12 when it's not. If they don't accept a return on their own open a dispute and eBay will 100% side with the buyer if the listing had false info.

  • +2

From a Reddit post of someone having the same issue.

"Here's an update: I booked an appointment with OPPO at their service centre in Melbourne and they flashed me the copy of ColorOS 13. Apparently, my phone was a Vodafone model, so Vodafone was supposed to manage the OTA updates, but they did not. Therefore, they switched me to the non-provider OS channel and updated my phone to ColorOS 13."

So it's definitely Vodafone that's the problem.

    • Thanks for sharing. Bought this for my pre-teen and she seems to be very happy while i noticed that it’s running on Android 11. Might worth booking in an appointment too.

      • The poster also noted that Oppo flashing it erases everything on the phone is if you take it in be sure to backup first.

        • Made a walk-in appt and they flashed it to 12 now - supposed to be a 30 min job but waited for an hour. I am now downloading 13 (5.53gb) followed by 13.1 (1.78gb). Happy days.

          • @johnlui: Any options for us in Perth without an oppo service centre? Is flashing it yourself difficult? Any guides that anyone knows of?

            • @K89: Sorry I wouldn't hv a clue on how to do that. You can't send it to a service centre in Mel or Syd?

  • Finally got mine and as with others only android 11.

Allphones were literally useless, just telling me generic instructions and eventually that it's upto Vodafone not them even though it was advertised as android 12. Vodafone weren't much more help. Again generic instructions on how to update before eventually saying an update would eventually come but no timeframe whatsoever. Oppo were much better. I can make an appointment at a service centre and they'd flash it for me onto the generic stream but not an option for me since no service centre in my state. So my only option is to send it to Oppo and they'll flash it for me but that could take upto 30 days.

The phone itself is great bang for buck despite the lack of updates so I don't think I'll return it. At this stage I guess I'll just wait and hope Vodafone actually push an update but if it gets to be too long I'll send it to Oppo.

    • I had my one serviced by Oppo service centre and it is now on android 13. The staff were very nice.

  • As with everyone else stuck at android 11 for now, but looks like Vodafone might be rolling out Oppo X5 android updates soon according to there site (but doesn't specify lite or pro).

My issues is that the phone won't connect to my car (mazda). Connects for half a second and then disconnects, so can't charge or use android auto. If anyone has a solution please let me know!
