Is the Australian Seniors Card ageist?
The logic with seniors cards is older people have either reached or nearing retirement. A 18-29 year should be working.
If you want to help out unemployed young people, give a discount to those with a Low Income Health Care Card. Not all under 29 year olds.
Base eligibility on circumstances, not age.
What does reaching retirement have to do with receiving benefits others are ineligible for because of their age?
You could be retired with a $20 million super and still receive the seniors card. It's not means tested.
