I knew it. I knew it

  • +1

Already have a V1 switch but this is tempting

    • +5

if you use it on TV.. don't

      • +1

Why not? Because not worth the upgrade?

Barely use my Switch but this is tempting.

    • Me too - but not being able to run CFW makes it less tempting.

      • Apparently you can but you'd need a $50 modchip plus you'd need to risk doing some soldering work

        • Yeah you can. Check out the instructional video for installing it though.
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TwpTnAMCZE
No way I have the skills to do it.

Considering I mostly play docked on an OLED TV anyway, not much point. I just hate not having the best switch possible haha

        • +1

Any idea if anywhere in Australia is doing installations?

          • @DustyAfternoon: I've not heard of anywhere.

          • @DustyAfternoon: Try ask in reddit

          • +2

@DustyAfternoon: I do installs of the CFW modchips, can do either of the HWFLY or Instinct chips, depending on your preference

          • +1

@DustyAfternoon: If you live in Sydney, I know a guy that chipped mine (and a few of my mates). But it'll cost you 350…

            • @lvm: Far out, and i thought i was expensive at $180 xD

              • +1

@miloscubra21: That is pretty cheap out of the 6 people i've enquired. Do you have a shop or out of your house?

One of my mates had their OLED chip install go wrong and the installer bought him a new one so decided to stick with this installer. 180 is really good though.

You’ll likely to get instant ban if run CFW on NAND, or CFW will block Nintendo services. Either way means you’re determined to go pirate.

        • +2

My V1 isn't banned and I've run CFW on it for a couple of years now. Just never run CFW on SysNAND.
EmuNAND for me is for ripping my physical games so I dont have to carry hundreds of dollars worth of cartridges around.
          Also save backups, mods etc.

    • +2

It's day and night if you ever play handheld

      • Just sleep by the fire for a bit.

        • +4

Instructions unclear. Now my switch is on fire.

      • If docked? Same betwen oled and v1?

  • +2

Hmmm, buy or wait until <$400…

    • +2

i dont really need the zelda edition, but the OLED vanilla one was under $400 at some time ago…

but i feel like i should jump on this 🤦‍♂️

    • Thinking same lol. I already have the Splatoon and Pokemon one sub $400

    • -1

I think itll get sold out at the current price.

      Dont wait

      • +2

I think it can drop more, there's a lot of stock at other stores

    • Just stack with GC and cash back and it is under $400

    • +3

you can already do this with your phone…

    • +6

People buy Switch because of their games not tech and power.

    • +1

Its for steaming games from a ps5 tho

      • You gonna pull the trigger this time? 🤣

    • That's not a gaming system, it's a streaming device.

And as someone said you can do that already with the Sony app on your phone.

  • +4

A bad day for the wallet 😕

  • -5

Amazing deal. Probably also indicative of switch 2 announcements, though release still a year off imo.

  • Ok I'll bite for the collection

    Game, Poster and Controller $84.20 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225497339032

    • Gonna hold off on the game I reckon it'll go lower. Decent price if you want to play now though

    • Just Game + Stand now (no poster)

    • Thanks. I suppose the stand and $5.50 saving are worth more than 78 carrots at EB. So I bought it.

  • -1

Is it worth it to buy this and return the order which I ordered at a higher price? Paid $513 2 weeks ago

    • I'd say so - if you can easily

    • I was thinking the same thing!

I have a feeling it won't really be worth the hassle and potential restocking fee that you'll be hit.

Anyway, great deal for those looking to buy it now

    • One for play one for the collection

  • -1

or spend the extra for a steam deck?

    • ROG Ally.

      • quite a price difference until we get discounted Ally

    • +1

Can you play Nintendo games on steam desk?

      • -1

Steam deck. And yes someone on reddit say even better than hunting unpatched v1 switch. Just get steam. You can play lots more

Switch noob here - I'm now looking at them as my kids (9 and 7 yo) are keen on gaming. Should I:
    1. Buy 2 x Switch lite @ $255 each
    2. Buy 1 x Zelda OLED @ $439

They're not great with sharing and will only play for max 2-3 hours on weekends.
Benefit of 2 x Switch lite = peace for the whole household.. But the whole family cannot "participate" together on "wii" like games

Benefit of 1 x OLED = can connect to the TV and both can play together. I'm guessing my wife and I can also join in somehow on certain games?

How would games work if we had 2 x Switch lite? Would I need to buy 2 of the same games? Is it better to just have 1 x OLED and let them fight it out?

    Appreciate the help!

      • +3

That's what the other 20-25 hours are for on the weekend.

        • Being 9 and 7. Buy the cheapest. They will likely break this anyway.

    • +7

I've got 7 & 5 yo's, I'd personally go 1 OLED - I much prefer gaming on the big screen, and better for kids than little screen i reckon. Plus you can get multi player games and my 7yo loves the sports games too - so good exercise! Probably easier to limit game time too with only one device.

Price in getting pro controllers too though, definitely worth it

2 lites would be good if lots of travel and happy for the kids to play on the road.

Games + lites - if you go digital, you'd need 2 copies, you could do one copy of a game and swap it, but obviously can't play at the same time.

Thank you. This is a helpful perspective.
