Stainless Steel Infinity Clothes Pegs 100 Pack $49.97 + $6.95 Delivery @ Activated Eco

90

I have these and they are great. No rust and they don't deteriorate/snap in the sun like plastic pegs.

Edit: These are marine 316 grade. Ones by Sabco (at Coles for example) are inferior 304 grade. These also have a lifetime guarantee from an Australian company.

    • Yep these Aldi ones are excellent

      316 stainless steel!!

      • And they use a fairly thick gauge wire too. Better than others I've seen on the market.

  • I wish they didn't rust. I know its says stainless steel.

On Aliexpress there are several sellers, and one has different grades of stainless, including heavier and ‘marine’. Might be worth a shot.

The term "Stainless" means that it stains less, not that it is unstainable. Yes, it's some pretty loose terminology. As other posters have said, there are different grades, SS 316 should last longer.

(From a cheeky grammarist, /s) Ah yes, and bottomless and homeless mean respectively that someone has less bottom and homes less.

Yet you're not 100% wrong - we say stainless to describe something resistant to staining or corrosion. Just that argumentation ;)

Sorry pal, I don't make the rules ;-)

      • The steel grade we utilize to craft our pegs is completely immune to rust. So, let it pour down outside and rest assured that the rain will give the pegs a refreshing look! Is it windy outside? Your laundry may tremble, but our pegs will never surrender. Thanks to the widened middle opening of the 1.7mm wire, the pegs boast a superior clamping force.

Not to mention, they won’t make you think twice before you grab them on a sunny day—low heat absorption is the key! To top it all off, our pegs make for a one-time purchase since they’re, in short, eternal!

Stainless steel shouldn't "rust" by itself.

In household use, there are pretty much only two ways to make stainless steel corrode (rust):

      • things containing chlorine (e.g. many bleaches) will attack stainless steel.

      • being wet and touching a more "cathodic" or "noble" metal will corrode the stainless steel, for example 316 stainless will corrode 304 stainless. To know which metals are like this, there's a list here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_series On this list, ignore the "active" materials, active means "material with its protective oxide coating removed".

However, I have often seen things described as "stainless steel" when they are only nickel-plated steel. Nickel plating usually has microscopic holes that allow water to corrode the steel underneath. An easy way to distinguish between 304/316 stainless steel and nickel-plated steel is to use a magnet, which won't be attracted to 304/316 stainless steel.

Note that the magnet test doesn't work with all stainless steels. Kitchenware and sinks are 400-series stainless steel, which magnets do stick to quite well.

With a bit of practice, you can also recognise most nickel-plated items by looking at them. Nickel plating has a whitish-silver colour, stainless steel is more a grey-silver colour.

And just to confuse things, sometimes stainless steel items have nickel or chrome plating applied.

  • These are $6 for 12 pack at Kmart on a regular basis. No need to commit to a 100 pack.

  • 20 for $4.38 at Temu. Ordered some and they are good.

    • Just be aware that those are 304 stainless, vs these and the Aldi ones being 316 stainless.

  • Would these get hot enough to leave permanent imprints on clothes during the QLD summer? (Not trying to cast shade on the deal or the product, just curious).

    • Use these for regular washing. Depending on where/how you clip your clothes, they can leave an indent. Unsure how adding heat in would impact this over time. I guess you're worried about them overheating compared to plastic/wooden pegs? Or worried about uneven bleaching over time?

      • Nah, the concern is that heat shrinks cotton, usually permanently, and localised heat from these pegs when in direct sun in the QLD summer might result in such shrinkage (which would present as a crease in the fabric). Though stainless steel is not that good of a thermal conductor compared to other metals, so it might be ok. Then again I might be overthinking this completely.

heat from these pegs when in direct sun in the QLD summer

I have several stainless steel underwear hangers, each with 20 stainless steel pegs that look identical to these. In full sunlight at noon in summer in Brisbane, I can't say I've ever noticed them to be any hotter than the air temperature. And they hold cotton underwear, which hasn't shown any damage from the pegs. I've been using the underwear hangers for many years, probably more than a decade.

120 for $17. They also say anti-rust, but over time I think the inner ring portion has shown some brown markings. So it depends on whether you trust linked deal to -actually- be rust proof, and if that's worth 100 for $57..

If they were made locally or something I could see that price, but at this moment I don't know what seperates them from any other stainless steel peg on ebay/ali.

Probably exactly the same as the Kmart ones which are actually cheaper when you factor in the shipping cost vs local pickup at Kmart. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/12-pack-stainless-steel-peg…

    • Looks like the same but this is a worry… :"Note: May not be suitable for coastal regions" - which translates to more stain than stainless steel.

  • If you're going to drop cash on pegs might as well go all out and buy Pincinox. Lifetime guarantee on them.

  • got mine from aliexpress after seeing those bloody ads.
out in the open and no rust for the past 2 years. stainless steel.

  • I was really skeptical on these but I have been pleasantly surprised.

  • What about wooden pegs? Any negatives? I’ve had “stainless steel” pegs that rusted.
