Seems to be a good price for anyone who's wanting to pick up a surge protector.
Surcharges: 1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx.
All the centrecom stores have stocks for collect, probably not worth it if you want it delivered.

what's the best value powerboard in your opinion
A $20 HPM powerboard with individual power switches
If you need protection, get an APC or Eaton UPS to sit in front of the powerboard
CyberPower are the Heymix of power protection - cheap but when running 24/7 connected to power, you are rolling the dice
I thought Arlec and CordTech were the Heymix of powerboards.
My wife bought an Aldi 'workmans' powerboard over the weekend. One of the sockets has the contacts so badly recessed that it can't make proper contact to any of the plugs I've tried seating into it.
And one of my two Cordtech boards has two of the four ports on it unusable from similar alignment problems- bent contacts.
What about Eversure? Anyone had experience with them?
What's wrong with Ha…ha…ha…ahem, Heymix?
Yes. They have terrible reviews. I don’t get why people keep posting these as deals every few months. It’s like the community gets amnesia.
I know the USB ports on it don't remove a ground loop I get from a headphone amp I use, but the USB ports on my PC do. They say the USB ports do have a path to ground but I dunno enough about electricity to know why it doesn't get rid of the buzz.
Personally got one, it works how its supposed to work?
Same here, own 2 and they have been working fine for the past 2 years. Came across one cable that the plug felt loose, seems to be down to individual plugs.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've never had any quality problems with the two I own. YMMV.
Mine powers our NBN Box, as well as Mesh Router.
They have QC problems. The plugs were loose as.
The lights on mine stopped working within 2 months.
Some of these have loose sockets and plugs don't sit very firmly in, and I can sometimes hear arcing sounds.
Had it for about 1.5 years but decided to replace it when it killed one my external backup drives (not suddenly, but slowly over time) and lost 5tb of data.
Don't use it for anything important like computer hardware. Probably okay for things like lamps and fans.
Just curious - how did you figure out it was the power board that was killing your external drive?
A Surge Suppression of 2750J is quite good if it is to be believed!
It's got a Maximum Surge Voltage of 6000V, surely it kicks in way too late to be of any use. Quick look around the net tells you you want that to be as low as possible.
If MSV is different to Clamping Voltage, then they need to mention what the CV is.
So is Belkin the way to go as I have tried both Heymix and Cyberpower and they both gave out in around 2 months time
Bought mine about two months ago and have been using it for my home entertainment since then (TV, soundbar, subwoofer, chromecast TV, router). Plug connection is fine once it 'clicks' in. No issues so far, let's hope it stays that way.
Be aware surge protection only helps you on high volts and amps. Brown outs where the power drops too far below 240V is just as damaging or even more and not caught by surge arresting.
For true piece of mind use a UPS on any expensive/sensitive devices. On-Line sine wave preferred.
To be fair not so much an issue in modern cities and towns but older wiring in older residences and semi/rural properties can be quite susceptible.

Yep, this.
Surge protectors are basically a waste of time…
Am I correct in saying these have bad reviews from previous deals?
If there's anyone who's really knowledgeable on electricity, what's the best value powerboard in your opinion, that is a good balance between affordable and reliable?
