Miele C3 Cat & Dog or?

About to move into a new 4br house with carpet in the living, and all bedrooms.

  1. Have a shedding medium-sized dog, who will roam the whole house

I plan to use a handstick (Dreame T20) + robot vacuum (s7) to maintain some cleanliness - and so that I'm not wasting C3 bags, but would like to deep clean the carpets which i'm not confident the T20 and robot vacuums will.

Is a C3 cat & dog still the best corded vacuum, for carpets? Or should I just go buy a gen5 detect?

  • You don't waste bags, you use them. They don't cost very much especially if you buy aftermarket bags.

    • The Miele XL bags last at least 1-2 weeks with heavy dog hair…. I have 2 that's shed all year round. Buy a big box for $80 and it last you a good while

  • +1

Have not come across anything better than Miele C3 cat & dog in domestic situation.

  • If my past experience is anything to go by my 17 year old Miele Cat and Dog is much better than the 3 year old v10. I’d get the Miele

    • It's best to think of any Dyson stick as a Dustbuster, for picking up crumbs or other spills, rather than actual cleaning.

I've had Dysons and Dreame for years. Bought a Miele for the MIL. If I had my time again I'd just get a Miele. Bagless sounded like such a great idea at the time but honestly changing a bag/filter once every few months is so much better than opening a small bagless bin every time.

  • You can buy reusable Miele bags but the vacuum nerds (yes, they exist) say reusable bags let through too much dust and end up wrecking the motor

They are about $3 each for generic ones from
    Amazon that work fine

In any case, hand sticks are great for a quick tidy up (tip: brooms are even better on hard floors..) but nowhere near as good as a C3

  • I got a c3 - I think it's great. It's very powerful and was the best vacuum I had ever used.
Then I got a robot vacuum (that is bagless), and I barely use my c3 anymore (only when my cat knocks a cup over or something and I want to clean up quickly, but then I always use my robot vacuum after for anything I missed). The tech has come a long way. Some can mop at the same time (can detect carpet + tile) and do a decent job, so long as whatever is on the floor isn't baked into it lol
It's something to consider, especially given that you have pets. It saves me several hours of cleaning a week.

    • Yeah i have a s7 (mops + vacuum) - i just don't think it'll deep clean like a c3 would on carpets. Currently only have hardfloors, so hasn't been an issue

  • If you can, wait for the 'Miele GI Goat' - an OzB member is currently testing a prototype.

New technology is centred around the promise of only a once a week vacuum being required, irrespective of how many indoor pet goats you have. Goats shed heaps so it should be more than fine to handle your shedding doggo.

    • Lol not sure if troll

  • The miele branded bags always much cheaper at good guys commercial.

  • I have the Miele HX2 Cat and Dog cordless with a short hair shedding dog and it is way better at sucking than the equiv Dyson. Plus swappable batteries!

I imagine the corded model is even better (and obviously better for longer sessions).

Forgot to mention (as this is ozbargain) they sell the HX2 on discount at Costco pretty regularly.
