If you simply take supermarket eggs which are $0.65 per 100 grams, and throw yolk in the bin, it will be around $0.87 for the whites, which is a lot cheaper than the subject whites.
But if you make use of the yolks which are around 35% of the egg mass - even cheaper for the supermarket ones.
And I am not accounting for delivery. So where is the deal?
The egg whites are pasteurized for safety and the egg yokes are being used and not wasted, but it's likely the cost of convenience and having it 'done for you'.
500g is less than 10 large eggs (only the whites)
I'd consider it if it was the other way round, yolk only
……and organic or free range at the least.
