My 7 year old MacBook is on its last legs and I need a new one.
Officeworks call centre were happy to "pricebeat".
These M1 MacBook Pros seem to be on discount in most stores. Not the cheapest way to get a 14" MacBook Pro (Harvey Norman have a lower spec one for under $2500 - and recently available at JB HiFi for around $2200 - but no longer). However for just over $100 more expensive might be worth it for some for the bigger hard drive and upgraded processor.
For comparison - The cheapest M2 MacBook pros I could find were with Apple Education Store at about $300 more than this. They come with half the size harddrive (which is also a slower SSD) and according to geekbench - the processor on that model is basically the same speed - because although its an "M2 Pro" it is the lowest spec model, compared to this mid-range (albeit older) "M1 Pro" variety.
