How does a Macbook help with an equalizer? Which equalizer after buying the Mac?

maybe he means i should rig a brand new macbook inline to use exclusively as an EQ between my $200 PC and a brand new AVR ?

  • HDMI out to an AVR.

    • its a wfh pc mate…its hooked up to a cheap DAC and half decent bookshelfs - sounds good with VLC /itunes EQ but want a baseline solution to govern the whole system - do you use a software EQ at all?

EqualizerAPO? I think it's got a graphic equalizer for the whole system, I usually use it with a vst eq tho.

    • thanks mate , will check it out…can you please elaborate on vst eq?

sorry for the late reply, EqualizerAPO has its own built in eq interface, but you can also use it as a way to apply a third party eq (in the form of a vst plugin) to your whole system. (these eq plugins are usually used within certain softwares, not for the entire system). I personally find some of the third party ones to have better features/interface etc.

IIRC - Peace or Equalizer APO

    • thanks a bunch , will check it out…can you please elaborate on Peace??

Just looking it up - Peace is another front-end for Equalizer APO. You are probably fine with just Equalizer APO - Thread on ASR.

I was going to set one or both of them up for headphones at one point but did not get round to it.

        • top stuff mate…real helpful….have a great night

foobar2k with its own internal eq components

  • thanks for reply… but looking for something to govern entire system audio output - i use plex, itunes, vlc, kodi, kayo/youtube in browser etc etc so just want a total overarching solution….cheers

my mobo came with a realtek audio console for the sound components which has a basic 10-band EQ built within it….does your mobo have similar?
although looking at EQ APO as commented above looks to be the business. might grab it myself as well

    Been using this for years.

You can DL and try for free, I liked it so much I actually paid for it.

Not an EQ per se but has a heap of presets and settings you can adjust.

    • thanks mate , will check it out

    • +1 to this. I've been using Breakaway for years. Brilliant program.

  • No Equalizer

  • thanks to all (constructive) responses…grabbed EQAPO and PEACE from sourceforge - perfect solution for my needs - cheers
