People are probably using the YouTube app and not realising a good browser plus adblocker will do the trick.

AFAIK, adblockers like pihole and wireguard don't block youtube video's ads, since they block dns names and those ads come from the same dns as youtube itself.
However some browsers on win/mac/linux/android/ios could do that. There are also a few apps that could do the job on android tv os too.

I don't know how we used to watch movies with constant ad breaks. It's such a terrible viewer experience.
YouTube Premium is the solution. There are some deals on Ozbargain and if your time is worth anything, it maybe worth the small cost to remove ads.
