    Seems very cheap

Works out to $100 per year with the warranty.

Perfect for those young ones setting up a new house on a budget.

Cheap top loader. Probably very inefficient and poor wash quality.

I recently picked up a series 8 Bosch 8kg on market place for $400. 2 years old. Works and looks brand new. Much better option than buying this junk.

Even a cheap Samsung front loader on special will be miles better.

I actually agree. The reviews seem to suggest it cleans fine but take them with a grain of sôlt.

3 year warranty gives a little extra piece peace of mind.

That's true, but I do think people worry too much at times with warranty. I've never needed warranty on a washing machine, so I like to take the punt and get quality second hand from FB market place.

I meant the Bosch Series8 I bought recently, 2 years old, has 1400 rpm spin speed.

This solt has 600. Pathetic! The clothes would come out so much more wet and take a lot longer to dry whether that be on the line or dryer. If dryer, that's even more energy needed.

For someone starting out they actually need to be frugal and I think buying cheap rubbish can be a false economy because a) this machine will wash poorly and use a heap of water, and b), if using tumble dryer, it'll cost a lot more energy, and c) this will no doubt have a short life, where another $300 or more will have to be spent a second time.

My view is pay a bit more and get something that will last, wash better and spin much drier. If you are willing to take the risk, FB marketplace can get some good bargains, otherwise wait for a Samsung on special.

        • How much should somebody starting out dish out for this Bosch on special you are pushing for?

@Hasbulla: I'm just saying there's better value. I think it's false economy buying cheap crap like this.

A second hand Bosch made in germany 8kg front loader (oz bargain favourite), washes well and uses much less water. It spins very dry. On sale they are $1200-1400. I wasn't prepared to pay that, but wanted one, so kept an eye on market place and they come up frequently enough around the $500 mark. The one I got was $500 and 2 years old. Yes there's no warranty, but I took the risk. The previous owner looked after it, there was not a speck of mould and cosmetically in great condition. That's top of the line bosch though. If you want a mid-tier brand on Market place they can be had for $100-200 - again, much better than this Solt one.

Previously I've had a Samsung front loader around the $600 mark. Wait for a special. They are good entry level machines, wash well and also spin well. If using a tumble dryer, you want a high spin so the tumble dryer uses less energy to dry.

Buying this Solt machine means you spend $300 on something that likely won't wash well, won't last long, use a heap of water and doesn't spin dry very fast. All in all, I don't think it has much going for it.
