Plenty of bike for that money. Probably the last of the V twins as well as they're dropping it for the boring parallels. Grab one to be a part of V history.
btw, where is the yellow offering for the 650xt as pictured?

    What's this?

Are there any good battery operated motor scooters in australia at lower prices? Like the OLA S1 Pro?

  • The 800DE really seems like a no brainer vs the 650. Suzuki really threw the kitchen sink at it.

    • Except tubeless tyres and cruise control.

      • Arguably best not to use tubeless offroad depending on what you're doing. And cruise control is an easy enough after market item with a throttle lock

        • A throttle lock is not cruise control, except on very flat road.
More of an annoyance than leaving it to the right wrist.

    • so much more expensive and it's a parallel twin

Nice post OP. I took my brother in law's new one for a spin (lams 650XT) on the weekend with my wife on the back.

Beautiful bike, a very well centred bike that feels nimble for it's wet weight- front forks were a tiny bit soft (albeit with 160kg combined weight on the bike) however the rear was superb. It had a great power band (topping off with the lams restriction) and handled the twisties of Mt Glorious with ease. $14k is alot of bang for buck and it has a bit of a cult following. If these bikes had a BMW logo on it, you'd easily be looking around $20k.

Also keep in mind accessories are well cheap for this model as it has been around for a while. The only negative I found as well as alot of later bikes is the position of the oil filter- directly at the bottom centre of the engine. A rock, stick or debri could flick up and cause you at alot of issues, bash plate is the only thing you'd 100% need for the Weestrom.

      so true my friend

  • These engines are genuinely bulletproof. Great machines

  • Price drop could be related to the imminent release of the Honda XL750 Transalp which may reset the market in the mid-price range adventure tourers. The Honda will probably retail at less than $15 + onroad costs undercutting the Yamaha Tenere & the V-strom 800.
Honda Transalp looks like one heck of a bike

Absolutely. The 650 is outdated at this point and doesn't offer much beyond say a CB500X @ $11200 ride away

Different style of bike and not LAMS friendly, however, this is also a pretty decent deal.

  • can you go heaven with this?

  • Well KLR 650 offers another 1900 era solid tech, that has not changed (almost) since its inception. Cheaper at @11k driveway, but of course it is very different machine.
