  • Great price OP I bought this one during the black Fridays sales and it does overheat but it is not really an issue, I do not shoot very long clips. the only problem is that I lost the screen module.

  • Good action camera, smaller than GoPro. But when shooting with mounts, it cannot attach the screen extension. Without the screen extension, internal battery can support shooting 4K videos for about 15-25 minutes.

  • Is action 2 overheat still a problem?

    • yes

  • 4k recording without the sd card (only the top part) will last about 27 minutes. If you're biking and put this on your helmet you can only place it vertical, which makes it really tall and heavy, so its best if you only put the camera there.

My workflow is basicly every 20ish minutes I plug it back to the module and transfer the files. Its not really good for long content, because of how you have to mount it. You can mount it with the module attached, but then it gets kinda tall. Good camera though, sad I missed out on another one >_<

    • The Action 3 Standard is only $449 (atm) so no point in buying an Action 2 now unless the form factor is required

Just that GPH11 has its quirks but better image/video detail and quality and the Action 3 is superior in pretty much all other aspects

I wonder when we'll get the next upgrade in processor/sensor

  • +2

I own the first gen DJI Action camera and prefer using that to my GoPro 7 which is always constantly overheating, locking up etc. Decent stabilization and good footage too on that one. For their first foray into Action cameras, I thought they did a fantastic job with the Action 1.
To my dismay, then they seriously messed it up with the Action 2 (ovberheating) and even the Action 3 has focusing issues etc.
I mean, as a camera, its first job is good quality footage, so releasing an Action camera with focusing issues is messed up.
I will skip Action 2, Action 3 and hopefully they will get their act together for Action 4 ?

  • the action2 is definitely for someone that knows what they gonna do with it. other wise better off stay with traditional format (gopro style). the lacking of that usbc cover and ruggedness is already a big deal breaker for many
