Netflix bought the game rights from Kabam after they retired the game about 4 months ago.

  oh damn! TIL - I used to play it before Kabam shut it down, might need to give the new version a go and see how it is. Especially how the upgrade progression is. It was got pretty brutal once you got past the first couple of tiers. If they removed the p2w stuff hopefully they've also tweaked this.
