RenderMan is now free for all non-commercial purposes, including evaluations, education, research, and personal projects. The non-commercial version of RenderMan is fully functional without watermark or limitation.

I can’t see anywhere that says it’s free for personal use. Just a “Try” link for non-commercial use. Their web page does say specifically that it’s free for educators and students though.

What is mean is “try” is seems to imply a trial period. Whereas the wording for education is that it’s “free”.
Not a deal, has been free for non-commercial use for many years.
