He doesnt do the ultra budget models though

  • Great.. I just bought the BW-V5 the other day and it's shipped already. lol
though I think this one is a bigger unit right?

    • Mine just shipped too. Oh well, was about half the cost of this!

  • Looks interesting.

How big is the screen size ?

    • Size worth of A$252.99

  • Can you run a Firestick from this?

    • +2

Yep it has a HDMI port.

    • It's already got an android onboard too so wouldn't really need to add a firestick

  • Netflix Certification so it's able to play Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video in1080 FHD resolution

Compared to uncertified 1080p projectors that can't play Netflix, Disney_ and Prime video in 1080 FHD resolution?

    • +1

The operating system onboard has Widevine L1 with Netflix certification. You can get other smart projectors that don't have Widevine L1 and thus no HD Netflix.

Alternatively you can use something like a Chromecast with Google TV or stream from your phone where it does have Widevine L1 to get HD.

      • Oh I see. Is the software built into it any good, or should you get a Chromecast or Apple TV to plug into for the best experience anyway?

        • +1

Chromecast with Google and Apple TV will always be better due to long term support and local apps like ABC iView etc.

Sweet as long as it got KODI it’s a sold to me

Bought the previous version about 18 months ago.

Lasted about 3 months, then one day it has a big green splosh mark covering half the screen.

    Good luck rolling the dice.

Have the older version and it's great. Fan noise is my only knock on it.

Interested to see how this one stacks up by comparison.

  • +2

Implied in the price, but it is 450lm, need a pretty dark space. Even at 1300lm, the mi pro 2 only looked best at night

  • Wonder how image quality compares to the cheaper budget projectors around the $100-$150 mark on Amazon/Ebay.

Processor 1.5Ghz Quadcore A55 : Okay for media browsing and consumption
Other SoC features like DSP,Codec etc : Good (Mediatek 9622)
Can't find RAM anywhere: Can't find it mentioned anywhere Good if atleast 4GB is there. Else not worth double the price compared to the earlier barebones vp5 deal
eMMC: Can't find it mentioned anywhere Good if atleast 16GB

Blitzwolf Android release cadence: No report of any such thing. So as long as apps support the version currently there or if Someone can try porting a AOSP based rom for Mediatek 9622 devices and the above wishlist for RAM and eMMC is satisfied then this is a okay deal. Otherwise the earlier barebones deal paired with a google tv/firestick/mi tv box/or any other android tv box or tv stick is much better than this.

Advertised peak brightness is higher for this compared to the vp5 but realworld test report is not there. so meeh.

Also it is better to get a light reflecting projection cloth for $20-$30 iron it and stick it to the wall with hanging strips if you are expecting any picture fidelity with these led bulb + lcd mobile screen technology based projectors irrespective of the price. White painted wall won't cut it especially if not in a pitch black room.

    • Blitzwolf Android release cadence

      It's not Android.

      • Even harder then…No trace of sdk or any firmware building for 9266 in open…

  • Doesn't have a remote it seems

    • I was wrong, it shows the remore in the video
