thought it might have been like spotters fishing glasses e.g crystal glass lens , $300 in tackle or outdoor shop ….. I think these are plastic lenses, so salt crystals from salt water, etc if you rub across lens will scratch ….. nothing that seems to make it better for fishing that other plastic polarised lenses offer at similar pricesses ….
You are the right that the lens will scratch when fishing, but it's definitely not the salt crystals from salt water. Scratched lenses can also result from freshwater.
Salt is a 2.5 Mohs, which means it is a very soft mineral that is approximately the same hardness as your fingernail. It's not likely to scratch the lenses. Salt may induce other problems, such as premature aging and cracking in lenses.
It's the sand that scratches the lenses. Sand is extremely abrasive (6-7 Mohs).
However, the other issue is that sand and glass are roughly the same hardness. For this reason you want mineral glass but sunglasses generally have a scratch-proof coating.
I don't know specifically they would fare in those conditions. These are the list of features of the PT24222 model if it helps.
