Best Heat Pump Dryer under $1k

Hi all, my Esatto heat pump dryer broke just after 2 years, but luckily they happy to refund my original purchase. Canr replace the model, as it's obsolete. Now I'm on the lookout for good value heat pump dryer under $1k. Any suggestion? Thanks

  • Hello, Was there any issues in claiming the warranty, if not buy esatto again, you got two years at only electrical cost.

    • Surprisingly pretty easy going. Everything settled within 1 week. Money back in my bank now. I thought they were going to argue mine being 1 month outside warranty period, but they didn't. But have to say, little disappointed for something like heat pump dryer which I didn't really use much broke down so quickly.

  • They made a new version that's 8kg instead of the old 7kg, I'd look at that. Appliances online have it for $630 on their ebay site right now with the current ebay 10% off - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304545205332 (dunno if that's a good price or if it goes cheaper, but it seems reasonable).

    • Unfortunately doesn't post to me in WA. Also, being the first one broke down so quickly after minimal, not sure I'm willing to take the risk again.

    • Why is the 8kg cheaper than the 7kg one?

  • We have a Bosch Series 4 heat pump dryer. these are made in Poland. Our first heat pump dryer but very impressed with them. Appliances online has 10% off their eBay store which brings it down to $977ish (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284912786653) with free next day delivery- which does happen and were very impressed by this. The delivery guys are really friendly too unlike most delivery people we've dealt with.

    • This Beko has reverse tumble - which is the real key if you don't want a wrapped up ball of damp clothes. Seems the Bosch mentioned above doesn't reverse.

    • Have to say this is pretty impressive. 5 years warranty too.

      • Have the same model - I always just use the eco mode anyway but its like 3 hours though.

      • My bosch sucks for bedding cos no reverse

        • yeah. would be nice to have reverse tumble. I can't set and leave sheets, just need to check it at the end, unravel, put on another 30 min. so not a big deal.

if you can be bothered, theres net bags made for this, chuck the fitted sheet in there so it doesnt combine with everything else.

          • @Drpepper666: cant you do reverse tumble by changing the side the sheets are on

    • Got this from their ebay store. I'm sold with 10% off and 5 year warranty

      • I have this too. Pretty good so far with 5 years warranty.

Just realized how much the price has gone up. Inflation really stings

        • how much did you buy for?

          • @Lancerx: $700 if im not mistaken. Some time last year.

      • Just did the same myself thanks to your post, managed to get it for $809 delivered with discounted ebay gift cards.

  • Have this 8KG Beko for just over a year: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/beko-bdpb802sw-8kg-heat-p…

Great machine, automatically adjusts cycle time based on how wet/damp the clothes are. Barely notice the cost of running it. Sometimes with heavier items they get balled up/stuck slightly and have to put them back on for a little to finish them off, but generally it's rare. 5 year warranty too.

Beko are a huge name in Europe and are generally seen as good value yet good quality.

  • Have had this one for over 2 years and it does a good job drying clothes.

    • Was going to go with this, but Beko's 5 years warranty & appliance online won me over. With eBay's discount, it's only about $40 more, plus next-day delivery and old appliance removal. Can't fault that

  • Im also on the hunt for a heat pump dryer. Ive seen so many good reviews for the essato, especially at such a cheap price.
I mostly do a couple of big loads once a week. We own a 10kg washing machine and mostly fill it.
We are moving to a house that lacks space for the traditional hills hoist clothesline (which makes me so sad). We own a king bed and need a dryer that will be able to cope with king bed linen.. will a 7kg or 8kg heat pump dryer be too small?

    • Too small for a 10kg load especially if you're washing multiple bedsheets. My Esatto only lasted 2 years, with minimal use, so the longevity part definitely don't get much point from me

      • Thanks for that. Do you know if the beko you got has much difference to the hybrid version? Or seems i might need 9kg or 10kg heat pump dryer then.

  • Hi Everyone,

I'm also looking at a new heat pump dryer, Choosing between:

Esatto 7kg ($585ish on eBay when in stock)
Esatto 8kg ($620ish on eBay when in stock)
Solt 8kg heat pump is $650 at TGGC (currently in stock for me)
And also the aldi sterling model (not released yet, but last year was $599 for 8kg)

Can anyone help, do you think the Aldi model will be dearer than $599 this year? Which esatto model is better?

I think if the Aldi one will be dearer I would go with the Solt GGSHPD80 (Model number sounds the same so quite likely a rebranded one?)

    • Well I am not one to be patient, I purchased 7 Ultimate gift cards at 10% off, went to my Good Guys local store and converted them into a $650 good guys gift card.
I was able to get TGG retail to match TGG Commercial price (Solt at $650 instead of $799) and pay online using the the gift card.

Total cost was $585 for the Solt 8kg dryer, cheaper than I could get the Esatto 8kg and looks to be basically the same thing.

      • Considering a Solt myself. How is it going one year on?

        • +1

Still going great with no issues, would highly recommend for the price
