Upgrade Security Cameras

Hi All
I need some help with a camera solution. Currently I have Eufy wireless cameras(cant find the model number but they are a few years old) which work alright but the motion detection is not great and the short clips often start too late and generally don't go on long enough.

Wireless is ideal but I am thinking powered cameras would be better to capture the whole event of motion. I am happy to have cables run(POE or just have power points for wireless powered camera's)
We use the cameras to detect people at the front door and to monitor the cats. One cat continuously finds new ways to escape the yard and it takes forever to identify how he does it.

I would most likely need 3 or 4 camera's. Cloud storage is not a requirement but motion notifications would be.

Are there any new wireless cameras that are better with motion detection?

Appreciate any help, tips and info.

I need some help with a camera solution.

Just get a Reolink PoE with NVR…

They are often on sale. Their new doorbell camera is also now available in Australia.

  • Another one for reolink. I'm pretty happy with my setup.
There's a guy around here that made a neat blueprint for frigate notifications too. Worth looking at frigate for your NVR needs.

  • Are you an iPhone user? Then Airtag your cat. My neighbour has a Tile on his cat but it's not great as there are hardly any Android users in my 'hood.

  • Thank you for the responses, I've started the research process into Reolink. Thought I missed out on the current Mother's Day specials as they "ended" last night. They are still running today, another 24hours to decide.
Does anyone have the zoom camera's? From the reviews I've seen it looks like it zooms to the "middle" only, there isn't any zoom direction (zoom to the bottom left corner etc)? I can't see this being very useful for my use, but I hate to miss out on features for the price difference.

In QLD, what would be a normal rate for having network cables run? I've had a few quotes in the past and 150 to 200 a point seemed normal. From the perspective of being licensed to run these cables, what proof is required to show they were installed by a professional?

@rock-bottom I am an android user but my partner uses Apple, tagging the cat is probably not a bad idea.

Could you post the mother day special?
      Thanks

    • Looking into getting some Reolink POE cameras also but in the early stages of research.

I don’t believe there’s any certification needed to run ethernet cables around the house. In fact that’s the attraction in that they can be self installed because they’re essentially plug and play.

      • Ive done a quite a bit of research on the cable topic, everything indicates without a license, you can really only run a pre-terminated cables around your house. I believe this excludes running cables in wall/ceiling/floor space etc even if its pre-terminated.

I dont think they are great, probably normal price but with a cool banner :)
