Grenade carb killa, haven't tried this flavour but it's $24.30 per box or just ~$2.03 per bar.

You can get these for $1 each at Reject Shop… Flavour may vary
yehh I got 11 marked down at $0.25 each haha was a good day
These were never in stock anywhere near me idk if someone just bought the entire pallet or what lol.
$2/bar though is a bit much after they've been on Catch for far less multiple times.
This is good to know - any way to check stock or do you have to go in-store?
At least the bars arent 40% fat like their spreads (8g of fat per 60g bar). But they are 20% maltitol and glycerol (12g combined per bar) if that is something you care about.
RRP is $4 per bar
That's a lot of sugar alcohols - bars high in those can lead to gas, bloating and the trots until your gut flora adjust.
Not sure how good they are for your gut flora, really.
IMO unless gas/bloating is a significant issue for you I can't see much of an issue with these.
Sugar alcohols have a lot of benefits - no dental decay, lower calories, lack of sudden BGL rise, etc.Fwiw the fermentation of FODMAPS (sugar alcohols, fructose, lactose, etc.) and insoluble fibres to produce gas depends on the gut flora. Clostridium produces gas when digesting these, whilst others such as lactobacillus / bifidobnacterium don't produce gas when digesting carbs. It's poorly researched but have seen a few claims that maltitol will increase the levels of bifidobnacterium (usually viewed as a good guy) so you may be spot on with the idea that it's an adaptation in the gut flora that leads to less gas/bloating over time.
Glycerol shouldn't cause gas btw. Whilst it is a sugar alcohol it's absorbed in the small intestine so doesn't get fermented by bacteria in the large bowel. It's actually higher in calories than regular sugar (and less sweet). Probably being added to retain the moisture/texture of the bar rather than as a sweetener.
These do taste great. Probably the best tasting protein bar I've tried.
I've had their chocolate brownie flavour, pretty decent and not too "fake" tasting. These sound tempting.
You'll probably like this flavour.
After buying these off of catch and the reject shop for the last year or two for $1 each, anything higher just feels too expensive. It’s a shame I haven’t seen them on sale lately.
OOS
Also, Danny Kass would not approve.
Edit: that was obscure - I'm pretty sure they purchased the braniding from Grenade Gloves (defunct snowboard apparel brand, previously owned by Danny Kass).
In case you're wondering and don't want to click, it's 21g of protein per 60g bar
