Damn, I clicked in this link all excited because I'd read:
Free Nike 4.0 V2 running shoes

    • The email was free.

  • Has anyone tried these before? Better than Asics for running?

    • I've been wearing pairs of Nike 3.0 (less support) for well over a year now and highly recommend them.

Lightweight n good! I ran away from 4 coppers and jumped 3 metal fence and 2 brick wall around 1km chase with this shoe! Please dont ask me what happened but to tell u this shoe is awesome for running!! :)

        Way to advertise, haha

      • +17

        Nike 'Free' indeed!

      • +2

i'm only convinced to buy these if you ended up getting away from the coppers :)

WARNING: Crime doesn't pay (BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO SPEND $68.50 ON SHOES)

      • Copyright it before Nike steals your idea!

        • "Crime doesnt pay, unless you have Nike Free 4.0 V2 to help you escape. Just Do It"

I've tried these (Nike Free Run 3.0), they feel a bit weird compared to flatter shoes such as casual shoes, as they feel like there's a lump right at the middle, just below the arch of your foot (if you have one)
Just a warning, go visit a shop first and try on some free runs to see if you like how they feel and the size, the sizing is a bit smaller, so say if you were a US 8 normally, the US 8.5 free runs will be the go for you, but visit a shop and come out with "I'll think about it" :)
Nike free runs don't work for everyone, they're awesome if they do though, very light and flexible.
Each shoe is different, and each person's foot is different either, to say Asics is always better than Nike free runs is a bit of a generalized comment and shouldn't be used.

Note: You are ordering one generation of Free runs older to Australia's current range of free runs (current range is v3 5.0, wiggle is 4.0 v2). But it's much cheaper.

      • Most, if not all, running shoes have arch support insoles. You can usually remove them and replace them with your own insoles which you can buy at any shoe store. They come in a number of different arch heights and angles for you to choose from.

      • I actually just remove the insoles and go without. Feels better for me and has been going great for the last 3+ years :)

        • ffffffuuuuuu bought these for $100 from wiggle and i thought I was getting a great deal. I love these shoes - very good for running, but everyone is different.

        • Would you say that it feels…more Free?

On a serious note, great shoe, great price.

…I personally go for asics …all the time. They are awesome…

    • Me too.

I have worn both of them at work and walked back home each brand for a year.
Asics are still in a good shape.
While Nike had small holes on top, bending area, and almost all of heel are gone.

from a casual glance though - about 80% of all olympic athletes are wearing nikes though,…

        • +5

          Those guys get paid but..

        • Make it 100% as Nike was one of the sponsors.

        • +4

It appeared as if Nike were a sponsor but it was just good marketing.

'Nike, which always manages a high Olympic profile despite its non-sponsor status, outwitted big-money Olympic backers such as Visa, McDonald’s and adidas - which reportedly paid $155 million for its official London 2012 sponsorship - with its nervy campaign, according to marketing experts.'

          http://bottomline.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/10/13205163-nike…

        • even if you are a sponsor you have to have good products. Case in point - in the swimming when speedo developed the fastskin. All other athletes were allowed to use it even if they werent sponsored by speedo because the performance difference was just so great.

oh yes and as mentioned above, nike wasnt one of the sponsors. There would have been great pressure to wear adidas instead who was the actual sponsor.

        • Too bad if you were sponsored by Speedo, they didn't allow you to wear competing suits from Arena and Jaked which trumped Speedo in the arms race for speed. That was how the fastest 200M freestyle swimmer (in 2009) Michael Phelps lost to a guy who didn't qualify for Beijing, but with the new suit had improved his best time by 7 seconds and now holds the world record yet to be broken.

      • In my case, my Nike Frees are still in good condition, while my asics the mesh is tearing and my wife Kayano the stitching is starting to come apart at the side top of the shoe where the last lace goes through.

The plus side of Nike is that their warranty is one of the best. Not sure whether they change it but you get 2 years warranty from the manufacture date to get a replcement for any defects. Burst bubble, sole falling apart, etc. I got two shoes replace before but they will just replace with an equivalent model as most likely the model you have is discontinued.

    • Chap at the Athlete's foot told me they aren't good for running. So I went Asics, but that could solely be for my type of foot.

  • just curious.. did anyone go through all currencies to discover the best conversion price? :p

    • Did three of em, AUD seemed to be the lowest…
Based on paypal exchange rates btw.
i.e. I chose the currency on wiggle and used paypal to convert.

  • Best price I could get through paypal conversion was $70.29 (choosing between AUD, GBP and USD)
Still good price though. Free shipping seals the deal.
Btw, the stock count on their website is updated live.

Will save people some time, only sizes US10.5 thru US12.5 left as of writing this comment

    • +1

      And no blue/white left.

  • Are UK shoe sizes different to here? I don't want to end up with a pair that's too big or too small because I went by AU size.

    • Generally the "Aus" size is actually the US size. The US sizes are 1 larger than the UK version. So if you are size 13 in Aus/US size, you would be 12 UK.

      • how dumb is that!. can't they just standardize it?

        • +1

Unfortunately, there's not just US and UK, there's EUR and JAP too

  • I bought these exact same shoes (yellow n grey) 3 months ago for $110 from wiggle. EXCELLENT price and shoe IMO!

  • Do these shoes have the in-sole pouch for the Nike+ sensor?

  • +6

Thanks, will need them after all these hungry jacks deals

  • The mens sizes are pretty much sold out, but if you're looking for smaller sizes, the ladies models are still available:

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/nike-ladies-free-40-v2-shoes-ss12/

And I think UK mens and UK womens are the same thing?? Correct me if I'm wrong

edit: Womens sizes are 1/2 size less than mens. i.e Womens UK 8 = Mens UK 7.5

  • Heard on the radio, Paul's Warehouse is having a buy one and get one free on all brands, so you can buy a Nike and get another of the same value free.
Planning to check it out this weekend, not associated with Paul's.

    • They always have this, but they force you to pick another brand for the free pair is what I heard

    • +1

For the Pauls in the Sydney CBD (inside Skyview Plaza) which is closing down, they have posters everywhere claiming 'buy one get one free- no restrictions', but then inside the store they mention it doesn't apply to any shoes which are marked down by 15%, which is pretty much all the good ones. Also don't think footy boots are applicable

  • +2

Paul's is CRAP. I've never found anything worth buying at that dump. The good stuff is never on BOGOF.

    • Every pair of shoes I've bought at Paul's has fallen apart in very short order; most have been refunded/replaced without issue, but I've found that the quality is just not the same as those purchased from other places!

      I reckon Paul's is sketchy…

  • These shoes are awesome. Both wife and I have them and wiggle are GREAT to deal with.

  • I think generally Nike is for people with perfect ankles/feet, if you have feet which roll etc, Asics are better, especially if you jog/run.

    • It's not the brand, it's the model…some models in any brand are better designed for those who either pronate or supinate when running or walking.

It's worth getting a podiatrist to analyse your gait to help you choose shoes properly, or even prescribe orthotics for serious cases.

      • -1

The key word was "Generally" which is pretty much true.

        • +1

That's probably one of the stupidest things I've ever read. You only get one set of feet, only a fool would ignore advice to take care of them.

Humans are not generic creatures, so you cannot apply a general rule. Fact: each person can have unique fit & support needs…why else do you think these brands make different models & fits???

  • The price has now moved to £65.63 http://www.wiggle.co.uk/nike-free-40-v2-shoes/
