Nintendo Switch Console OLED: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom Edition JP¥41065 (~A$453) Delivered @ Amazon JP

1231

The deal should be there for a while. The console has already been released at the end of last month in Japan.

It seems Nintendo Switch console in Japan is always cheaper than in AU.

The console (the Zelda game is not included) costs ¥38,980 (~$430) + Amazon International Delivery ¥2085 (~$23) ~$453 delivered, which is about $100 cheaper than AU version. The shipment takes about 10 days.

It should come with a global 100-240v adapter (US type socket) according to a reddit post. Use a travel adapter easily fixes the issue. The console is also region free.

I'm pretty sure I know who is down voting all of these comments here so have a +1.
I'm not going to buy the totk version but if I was I would also buy local, just got the warranty really.

  • Where in the hell do I get my Amazon JP discounted gift cards ?

  • +5

Gamesmen ebay is selling at 514 with coupon. Find yourself some ebay gift card 462 au stock. And Faster delivery

    • Not sure about Amazon Japan, but I often have things arrive from the US faster than locally sent items via AusPost.

Fair enough. I had similar experience. But warranty is still a big plus for local stock

    • Slightly cheaper here for $456.5 if you have Plus (17% off).

  • Switch is definitely not region locked. You'd just have to change the default language on boot up.

I would stick with Aussie versions, especially for resell purposes in like 10 years time.

History suggests Zelda consoles will be worth a lot.

History suggests Zelda consoles will be worth a lot.

Eh, highly doubt these will be worth much.
The special edition switches are basically mass produced.

      • Agree. The hardware is almost obsolete at this point and with all the covid impulse buys there are going to be a lot floating around.

    • Huh I have a gold Triforce DS somewhere… are you saying it's worth something? Too bad it's US region locked :(

      • Depending on whether you have all of the packaging and extras which comes with it or not. They've sold for $200-$500 on eBay.

      • DS and DS Lite are region free.
3DS, XL and their "new" versions can all be jailbroken/hacked to remove region locks.

    • Yes, it is gonna be worth a lot $$$$ top dollar.

In 10y an used vanilla switch is gonna be $150 bucks and a special like this one is gonna be $500.

Considering the inflation you lost money lol.

  • People whinge about obsolete HW, yet this console perfectly runs some of the greatest and highest rated games in history.

Having the world's most up to date HW doesn't make a game good, all it does is help push more pretty things on the screen.

If all you want are pretty things on the screen, then sure this isn't for you then.

Heck, some of the best games ever made can run on a toaster!

    • Hmmm I'm deciding to get a switch to play Zelda and other IP Nintendo stuff.

But I wouldn't play a AAA game on switch, like Witcher 3 graphics comparison vs PS4 on YouTube, the switch was so fuzzy and poor quality.

Totally agree with not playing a title you can play better on another console.

But the selling factor about the Switch is that its really portable. Yes there is the Steam deck but thats more expensive too.

I can plain it on the train to work, on the plane, lying in bed etc.

By the time you decide to get a Switch a new gen would be released and then are you going to hold back and decide again if you want to get that console? LOL

Switch has been out for 6 years already, imagine all the games you have missed out on in that time.

It would be nice if their own games could maintain a solid 30fps. I here more people complaining about the frame rate rather than the graphics.

      • I find the lag and bugs in BotW gives it its charm.

Still highly recommend this game regardless

TotK looks like it runs smoother so looking forward to that.

        • It doesn't really, but it doesn't hinder too much.
Maybe a day 1 patch will help?

          • @theguyrules: They had 6 years to make this game.

Better not end up like Pokemon violet and scarlett patch issues

      • frame rate drops when using runes and climbing trees but its otherwise fine

      • Totk maintains 30fps after the 1.1 update. It seems to perform better than botw.

Oh damn I didn't know there was a patch out! Thanks for the heads up.

    • You are not wrong, however their old hardware is definitely holding back a lot of the games and forcing game studios focusing a lot more efforts on optimization that could otherwise be used to improve other aspects of the games.

    • Yeah it's the console exclusive games that make the console. Also it's great for casual gaming with people that come over.

450 bucks and no game. There's a Nintendo buyer born every minute it seems. Hardly a deal.

    • Hmm based on the Zelda Game and Watch I doubled my $$$$$$$$ .
      Bring the theme on :)

      • After how many years?

        • Those classic NES mini consoles were 3x your money within less than a day when they first came out.
