Pet Care Question - French Bulldog

Hi all,

My dog has gotten a red rash which i think is caused by allergies or dry skin due to us running air con. Could someone recommend an effective topical solution for this? Or a hypoallergenic shampoo which has helped this condition? Will be seeing vet soon, just wanted an interim solution.

Thanks.

Get a bottle of Malaseb shampoo. That should do the trick until you get to the vet.

Malaseb wash and then when you take the pup to the vet they'll probably give them a shot of Cytopoint with those symptoms.

      • Exactly what my male shih tzu goes through whenever he used to scratch his belly to death.

  • Does your Frenchie spend much time on grass/lawn?

    • yes we were at the park the other day on patchy grass for a couple hours. what are you thinking it could be?

      • Frenchie's, Stafford's etc type breeds can be very sensitive and react to playing on grass.

        Give it a zertec tablet

        • Why are people negging this? Just because mokr doesn’t know how to spell?

        • Just check with a vet first- my cat took half a Zyrtec when he ate a bee on vet advice, but not sure about dogs.

    Yes, your vet can.

  • Any chance it is sunburn? In-law's frenchie gets it from just lying in the sun inside. You can get a dog sunscreen to use.

no i dont think so as its mainly belly and legs area

  • Is your vet anthony adams? because with a frenchy, I'm sure they are watching you rubbing their hands together like he does.

My dog had something very similar. We took him to a new area to run around etc and he got a red belly and legs the next day. Went to the vet and she said maybe taking him to a new area with new grass etc this could have caused the rash. She just recommended some simple Ego QV moisturiser and rub it on his belly and if after a week still there bring him back. It went away after 2 days. It was called QV baby moisturising cream. And if it’s real bad she said we could do a shallow bath with 1 cap full of QV bath oil for every 2.5 lt of water, have your dog stand in the water for 5 mins then dry and apply moisturiser.
Save yourself $180 for the vet and maybe try the above first OP and hopefully it works
