Fast, cheap or good. Pick two.

The answer will depend on your age, risk factors, previous claims history, suburb you live in, aggressiveness of the insurance companies in chasing business (repeat customers often get charged more than new customers), included extras such as windscreens, no claim bonus features, varying degrees of excess, exclusion of particular people driving the car, whether the car is financed, whether it is modified, whether it is garaged on the street, in a carport or a garage, how far you drive and how often and the claims process that you have to go through, nominated repairers, choice of repairer, hire car after a certain period of time, lifetime warranty…

So here's your answer. Coles or Woolies. Two new entrants in the marketplace looking for a share, at competitive rates. That's if all else, including all of the above are equal.

  • nrma suggests in ads that others may not have what they cover as standard.
a pain reaading the fine print.
choice mag is good for reviews
so read theat and post the latest for us - anyone who can research
    getting too old now.

  • From personal experience, if you are renewing, Pregressive Direct has the most well balanced cover for a cheap price. However, if you have never had car insurance before they could end up being more expensive than the others. Bear in mind that this is a 100% online company so it might not be for everyone. But they do have a number you can call for claims.

  • I will never use Progressive
