Some Shapton Whetstones at really good prices on Amazon.au atm.

Those out there who enjoy a good hone of your blade every now and then will be familiar with Shapton Whetstones as they are well regarded around the globe.

I couldn't resist getting a #220 at that price to add to the 1000,2000 & 5000 I already have.

These stones do not require soaking in water like many other Whetstones require. Just a splash of water on top and they're ready to go.

  • Looks like there's only one with Amazon Prime?

    • Yeah, but most the other ones are free postage anyway when I checked. Are they showing free for you?

      • Haven't added to the cart then, but it seems that the #2000 went back to regular price anyway. All good. Ta

  • Are any useful for knives? 200 would be too coarse wouldnt it?

Ive got the 1000 and 6000 combo stone. Just wondering if the 2000 is worth it.

Lower grits is for fixing major chips on your knife and use for thinning. 220 leave a deep scratch on your knives if you are not carefull. 320 is more commonly use.

For every day usage, ideally is 1000. Shapton 1500 is better option than 2000, as it is closer to Naniwa 1000, which is another good brand.

I'm no expert but at the regular price I'd probably say the 2000 wouldn't be totally necessary. I thought $66 was a good deal when I bought the 2000 recently, at this price, I'd get one for sure!

Couldn't get the 2000 in time but got the 12000 for $60. Checked again and price has gone back to $95. Cheers OP

Glad you were able to snap one cheaply.. The 2000 currently for $65 is still pretty good IMO. From what I've seen they usually sell around the $80-90 mark

  • Ive always wanted to buy some of these sharpening stones, which grits would you recommend???

    • +2

1000 or 1500 in this brand also workable. Don’t worry about other grit, just honed your skills with one stone, down the road you can always add other grit as needed.

  • that went quick ……

Shame the 1000 isn’t discounted - had been eyeing that off for a while.

  • Thanks OP. Bought Whetstone Sharpening stone SHAPTON Ceramic KUROMAKU #320 https://youtu.be/F2bSNLuJZKc Great video

  • 2000 is $65 now

  • that went quick ……

  • I was recommended by a bladesmith to buy a shapton 320 and a 2000, that will pretty much get you a fantastic edge on any knife. That and a strop to finish them off.

    • Big gap between 320 and 2000

      • Yep there is, but I've had previous people tell me all kinds of things and this method is probably the easiest and most fool proof I've ever tried.

  • Back on sale!

    • 2000 is $54
      220 is $42
