Expect it to go higher again. They just announced pre paid plans are increasing 20% from 1st June so I dare say post paid increase will come again.
Those electrons are costing Telstra more with inflation to move about…
And as expected.
“Telstra will lift post-paid mobile and mobile broadband prices by 7 per cent, ahead of expectations, from July 4 in response to rising costs.”
As noted on previous deals you can contact Telstra for $10 off for 24 months or $20 for 12 months as a new port in customer.

“you can *try to contact Telstra…” fixed it for you as it depends on your luck and you may get $0 off after 10 attempts.
This does not work anymore. The plans are now in Telstra's Upfront system which doesn't allow random discretionary discounts.
I think they can still do $10/month but I still wouldn’t be touching this deal.
@rpb: Nope, they cannot.
I did it about a month ago, $10/24m on first try :/
@Leho: Yeah and you're most likely not on their new Upfront plan. Your service would say this on the app and payment is mandatory direct debit. You get issued a bill with a 2000 account number each month?
@lppepper: yeah I think i got in just in time before the switch
@lppepper: I got the $10 off (but 3 months ago) with the 2000 acct number/direct debit.
@FromRichesToRags: Yeah you may have. The new system (only in the last 3 weeks) does not allow discretionary discounts by Telstra any more.
No more, tried last time, doesn't work
I'm on $10 p/m discount for 12 months and signed in Jan. On $69 Plan.
@bargon: The plans also changed to a new Upfront billing system a few weeks ago. These discretionary discounts are gone.
Not worth it.
It is if you can get can get the $20 mo credit to make it $79 a month.. which i did.
Rip off
You'd have to be a very heavy user to get through 300GB mobile data a month.
Hotspotting from your phone constantly will kill its battery, data share SIMs are $15/month if you don't have an eligible plan to share to.
Also you're signing yourself up to paying $2,376.
Deal isn't great but I personally see it as paying $49 for 300GB/month.
$2376 - $1200 = $1176 / 24 = $49
If you need the data, have a bad NBN service and decent 5G connectivity then that's not too bad.
Except gift cards aren't cash, 10% is the going rate for JB so it's more like ($2376-$1080)/24 = $54/mth
Haven't looked at just data SIMs (assuming you need 300GB at high speeds) so not sure if this is worth it just for the data but I definitely wouldn't be putting this in my main device if I'm hotspotting.
I personally wouldn't go for it either but I know a couple FIFO miners who would.
As for GCs not being cash, definitely but I also don't normally plan out purchases so far in advance to buy gift cards when they're on discount.
@stenchlord: Oh me neither lol but classifieds are normally pretty good and transactions are usually quite fast.
Ofc not suitable for everything but having the incentive there has actually stopped a few impulse buys, saving me more 😂
@pennypincher98: That's probably the right guy way to go about things. I'm just too lazy lol and to be honest, I'd probably save more money if I didn't frequent Ozb. The amount of needless impulse purchases I make because it's a good deal is starting to get ridiculous.
I'd probably save more money if I didn't frequent Ozb.
Oh I know I'd definitely save money if I wasn't on here haha
Can claim off taxable income as well (some jobs)
$99p/m x 0.75%(%work related use) x whichever tax bracket = tax saved
You also should factor in port in credit.. i got $20mo and also Telstra points value from the life of the contract.
if you dont need calling. You can use it as NBN replacement. Put the SIM in 5G Modem and you are good to go with 300GB Data
300GB at that price is very similar to an nbn plan. Not worth it imo
Wouldn't Telstra throttle speeds when the it detects the Sim to be in a modem, I tried on the X20 4G modem and could only get to 50 Mbps.
$99 a month for just the sim card? Boost is that cost for a year….just use wifi where possible
Mate, it's "boost is that cost for a year, but you don't get even 10% of the annual data allowance"
But you are right. Might be cheaper to just buy a call only annual plan (like Aldi for example), and just use WiFi where possible. But that's not an option for everyone everywhere. I know people in Darwin/remote areas for whom it's cheaper to use this than setup internet at home. And public WiFi is a dangerous territory.
Same plan is $89 on Telstra website
https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/sim-only-plansI can see them giving you $10/month discount for 12 months.
I got $20 and it usually ends up being 24mo.. just need to chase it up.
As others have said the new plans don't allow this?
You referring to the current one or something that happen in the past?
May I know when did you get this? And how did you get it?
Does it come with a $1,200 gift card?
I cannot believe in this day and age, people still pay for Telstra, when you have so many companies like Boost, Amaysim etc that dominate with price reduction. Then again, if everyone went the cheaper companies, then Telstra and Optus would lose customers and just up their network utilisation fees. So keep buying Telstra people lol.
so many companies like Boost
Ahhhhh.. you might want to find out about Boost 😅
What, that its way cheaper than Telstra?
Not that, you cant port from Boost to Telstra because its a part of Telstra.
@vash5: You can buy a $2 Coles sim and port out, to port back into Boost etc.
Boost mobile $40 gets you 50GB
Telstra $58 gets you 40GB (and its about to go up in July)
Aldi mobile $35 gets you 42GB@BatmanAU: I think we are having two different conversations.
Im trying to say Boost is a part of Telstra, thus bad mouthing Telstra extends to Boost.
You are pointing out the value aspect. Which I agree with and you have a solid argument.
I just find the irony funny 😋
@vash5: I know Boost is part of Telstra, I’m not bad mouthing them, I’m purely stating that Boost is cheaper than Telstra, even though it is part of Telstra family
@vash5: It’s weird how the same company can provide 2 different pricing under two different names
@BatmanAU: Yeah they do that for home brand thats repackaged premium brand.
I am still with Telstra, doing the annual leave and return for the JB Hi-Fi deals made it bearable… but not anymore.
Anyone recommend a cheap alternative?
Need good coverage, no contract and Visual Voicemail is an absolute must.
Is there a link to this deal?
I swear this used to be $89 p/m :(
