Spent time on the chat with eBay support after my recent listed sales was slapped with variable 12% fee even though I ended my listing and chose sell similar to list a new one.
Can confirm sell similar is no longer considered a new listing.

Yeah I've found this. They have polished up their wording on the terms and conditions too, so less scope to disagree with a chat rep.
Need to create a full new listing.. I normally slightly change the title for good measure.

As in the first item sold and you selected sell similar as opposed to ending the listing and then sell similar?
I'm just going to stop using sell similar in any case just to avoid any potential headaches
no as in - if you find someone else's listing and then choose sell similar (if that option even exist) then that's considered a new listing. I'd just avoid the sell similar button altogether.
Ebay support knows nothing. They will say this so they don't have to refund you.
I just did sold similar yesterday and worked fine but had same issue earlier in the month.

I ended 2 of my listings on Friday night and relisted them instantly using sell similar and they both only got charged the 30c fee after selling.
