Ducted Heating Making Loud Noise Intermittently

Hi all, looking for your experience on this please. My ducted heating has started making very loud noise since 2 weeks. The noise is like someone bang on the floor, very very loud. At first, we thought our neighbor was doing reno works, however, he came to tell us that "your ducted heating is making explosive noise". My theory is between runs, the device that's supposed to release/stop the gas is not working properly and it's leaking gas. So something like:

1) Set the temp to 19 degree, start the heating
2) 19 degree reaches, heating stops, gas starts leaking, well into the ducts?:
….
….
….
GAS
….
….
….
3) temp drops below 19, heating auto starts => Bang on ignition, level of bang noise depends on how much of the gas leaked/time between 2 & 3. The colder outside, the smaller the bang noise.

I tested this out by:
1) Set the temp to very high like 20,21 so that the heater will run non-stop until the temp reach 20,21
2) As the temp reaches around 19, stop the heating completely.
No more bang noise.

Can someone with experience in the field confirm this? Or what else would be the issue? The noise is really really big, it's like you banging to the floor hard.

That makes more sense now. Cheers

Also, don't mess around with gas or take advise advice from internet amateur plumbers.

Get a heating specialist or gas plumber out to inspect before using the heater again.

        • yeah mate, already booked someone to come over next week.

You want free expert advice, but you can't be bothered even recording a 15 second YouTube video of the noise?

    • I'd love to but the bang is too loud & scary that I don't really want to mess with it.

      • If it's that serious that you dare not turn it on, why are you asking randos online instead of calling a ducted heating expert, or the manufacturer even?

        • I already booked someone to come over next week, just curious to know if someone has experienced this before. The more information the better.

  • Turn the gas valve off and use your reverse cycle air conditioners. Don't waste money fixing it.
