[Paddy Pallin Club] Mont Moondance 2 (2 Person Tent) $751.96 Delivered / C&C @ Paddy Pallin

60

The Mont Moondance 2 Tent has been designed to provide you with 3 season weather protection, lightening fast setup, minimum packed size and the lowest possible weight without sacrificing performance. The new Moondance 2 Tent is the best lightweight, 2 person tent for hikers, bikers and adventure travellers in 3 seasons.

This is a great lightweight tent, it is usually around the $900 mark from most retailers so this is a very good price. Paddy Pallin has 20% off almost everything in store until Monday for members. $10 lifetime membership required to access this pricing.

Needless to say this is not your average glamping tent. It’s a high quality tent that is designed to be lightweight for hiking, and perform even in inclement conditions when a good or bad tent can make the difference between a good and potentially very bad outcome.

    Wtf

    • "Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance"

Apparently not, even when it's on sale.

Not a happy camper, or not needed a 3 season ~2kg lightweight tent? I've seen better around $400-500 mark tbh.

      • +1

This. Serious campers will go beyond the Anaconda, Kmart and Aldi tents and pay the extra cash but even in the 400-500 price range there are many other better options than this with better specs.

        Also Nemo name checks out.

        • speaking of Nemo the 2P tent is on sale and weighs half this and far cheaper

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Nemo Hornet 2P would struggle to comfortably fit 2 people inside though. At this price point I'd grab the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2

        • Losi 2P in fact!

        • +1

At this price. I'm sleeping under a tree with ozbargain catalogues as insulation

          Actually not really.

Despite it's name this can be used for serious 4 season use.

It's a proper cross pole design.

Has access from both sides (mini door on one side for changing the fly from the inside).

Is extremely stable with 6 stakes and bulletproof with 10.

Actually has full splash coverage versus Nemo and others.

10k+ water proofing, believe the tent floor is actually rated at 20k with their coating.

Other tents will struggle to reach 3-5k. This actually matters for tents since they are static and will have bottom-up pressure from lying/pressure.

To be fair I also got my MD2 in the full winter spec for less than this but this is better than most of the MSR offerings and way above off-spec Anaconda/Dune/Kathmandu.

You can probably find a few decathlon tents that are similar but none that are comfortable for 6ft+ people.

perfect for the housing crisis and the homeless

Looks more like Toorak of tents. Is there a matching ultralight golden dunny?

I'll admit I checked out this deal for longer than I should have. Tempting for a reason I'm not quite sure myself

  • Is it made out of plastic?

    2 Person Tent
    $751.96

    I'm sorry, what?

    • This should never be discounted as it draws attention from those who wouldn't normally look at a $940 2-person tent. i.e, almost everyone.

  • +3

This is expensive, but there are better options in the high end tent price range. For the budget camper the Naturehike Cloud 2 UP is far cheaper and weighs less.

Even north of the $400 range there are dozens of better options. Also it seems like water will go all over the place with that vestibule placement.

Exactly the same as the naturehike mongar two person tent for $200 on Amazon and weighs the same.

    • +5

      Exactly the same

I'm not arguing that the Mont tent is comparable on price, but the quality of the construction is definitely higher on the Moondance. Saying that they are exactly the same is not accurate. The Mongar is certainly very good value for money.

      • I was referring more to the design and size of it

  • $939.95 full price. Fark.. you know where to to shove those aluminum poles

    • overpriced even with Ti poles haha

  • +2

$10 lifetime membership(paddypallin.com.au) required to access this pricing.

    HAHA

They also jacked some of the prices prior to this sale. Thermarest Uberlite was $460 in April is now magically $500 in time for the sale!

  • The MSR Hubba Hubba 2 is on special for $904. Man, stuff is expensive these days!

      Ultralight bank account

Looks to be pretty much the same design as this tent: https://www.amazon.com.au/Naturehike-Star-River-Lightweight-…

  • Did it comes with zigbee, z wave, or its wifi only? Auto deploy and fold? How about the battery life?

    • Imagine you're hiking for 120km with all your gear. You can either have a 12kg or 15kg backpack. This means you can carry more water or food. You pay more for less in weight.

  • Thanks…got a couple for the kids to play in the backyard…
