If you are getting this, the Microsoft Ebay store has a decent deal on the keyboard and pen combo ($231 with ebay plus)

  • Few good deals on eBay from liquidated companies on the Surface Pros, I believe it's a popular one in the corporate world due to being a Microsoft product but also very agile / works as touch screen / 4G.

Got my Surface Pro 7+ 16GB RAM with all features in brand new connection for $700 including keyboard, pen and with Microsoft warranty registered to the serial number (still in warranty now)

Ohh care to share the links? Can pm me please?

      • I don't have any links unfortunately since I'm speaking mainly from anecdote from browsing here and there every few weeks since I am considering getting one for a family member. Albeit for most people I would actually recommend just getting an 8GB and purchasing from one of the deals here on OzBargain since the 8GB models are often getting discounted (unlike the 16GB models which are still well in the $1200+ range).

which ebay store that you got yours 7+ for $700 ? should be on the purchase history to look up. thanks. so i can bookmark that seller thats all

          • @CyberMurning: Wasn't a store unfortunately was an individual seller who was selling laptops for a liquidated company. You would be able to find the sale on eBay history past 6 months though

@rekke: oh i see i thought some big refub ebay store like that one selling the famous phililip 32" monitor brand new $220

    • Id upgrade mine of i could buy one for that price

  • Stack with 10% gift cards and that is a pretty good price for a Surface Pro 9.

Very small RAM and SSD for the price, in my opinion in 2023!

  • How's note taking on this compared to S8 tablet?

    • +1

Unless you really need windows S8 will be better for note taking. I had the SP9 and it gets quite hot with only moderate CPU usage and has pretty poor battery life. I ended up returning it.

      • Thanks :)

  • That particular model of the Surface Laptop 5 is $1 more at both Microsoft and Harvey Norman so they must all be matching each other:

What use case do people buy these for? 1.3k for 8gb/256gb ssd seems nutty. Before you fire your pre-loaded downvote guns, I'm just curious.

    • +3

Nah, you're valid. 8GB RAM is no longer the minimum, and is quite underpowered for most applications these days (especially looking at you Firefox & Chrome)

  • I love the surface line from Microsoft, I've got multiple, but word of advice, their service agent in Australia is absolutely atrocious.

I've had a claim in since December on a 7+ that they still haven't resolved… It got bricked by a firmware update pushed through windows update, got replaced with a "refurb" that had a broken kickstand, that got returned to them then I got one with a bent chassis with the screen starting to come out of it.

After much argument Microsoft replaced with it a brand new Pro 9 with more ram and larger SSD (nice!) But left me without a type cover which they've told me now won't be in stock until July!
Wish I'd seen Hoolios comment earlier as I would have grabbed that signature keyboard and slim pen 2 set in a heartbeat!
For the moment it's just a pretty 4th screen I can cast my desktop PC to, or a fragile toy for the kids to draw on in Microsoft Whiteboard.

And if you upgrade the SSD you're going to want to keep the original as they'll refuse warranty claims if you return the unit without the SSD that it came with.
Alternatively buy the warranty pack from Microsoft that allows SSD retention if you plan on upgrading the drive or they'll knock your warranty claims, in fact probably buy the warranty plan anyway, I wish I had.
