Great cooler, got it for 50 something a while back and it's been running fine on my 13600k

PS120 SE with 7 heatpipes at $58.9 is available as well:

Stupid question, is your username just randomly ChatGPT or do you use it to find deals? (I'm dumb)

    • +3

ChatGPT doesn't have access to the internet (beyond what it recalls from the dataset it was trained on), so unless they got it to help program scrapers, the former.

      • His other account is Skynet

  • This is a good deal

  • Bought it last sale, absolute chonker.
cpu hardly ever gets hot, great value for the price

    • +1

Just a lesser model. 4 heatpipes instead of 6, with the same diameter of the 6 heatpipe dual tower version here.

These dual tower coolers can easily be used fanlessly. Case fans are enough for most CPUs with big towers like this. I run older rigs on single towers without fans and they never reach max temp.

Only just fits on top of my Kingston DDR5 ram on Asrock AM5 board. Like it's just touching the top of RAM.

    • what size is your RAM?
edit: looks like an Amazon review says Corsair Vengeance RAM will fit fine. Good enough for me, that's the stuff I use.

  • damn, and I just bought an assasin king 120se last week, would have def paid the $20 diff for this -_-

  • Hmmm, I wonder whether this is better than my 13-year old HR02.

  • Bit of a noob when it comes to contact frames, but is a contact CPU Fran beneficial/required for pairing with an air cooler for better temps?

    • For INTEL, the answer is "maybe"; if you're unlucky enough to have a board the flexes, then yep. There's no HARM, but there can be waste of money. Trial and error.

For AMD, almost certainly no; however not having to deal with the Thermal Paste in the grooves makes the $9 from aliexpress worthwhile.

  • Anyone using one of these on a 5950x? Experience?

    • Not a 5950x, but I just received the PS120E linked in the comments above and it holds my 5900x at 84 degrees while cinebenching and with the CPU pulling 195-200W.

Did use this PA120 on my 5950x, now using the PS120SE model.
The extra heatpipe on the PS120SE cools 2 degree better, but the rear fan overhangs above the heatsink…

The stock fan is only quiet below 800rpm, once replaced with an Arctic P12 PWM PST ARGB fans, was able to run them at 1200rpm and it's whisper quiet.
      Cooling improved from greater airflow.

tried a bunch of fans on the PS120SE, these cooled about 2-4 degrees better than the Arctic P12 ARGB fan setup

Silverstone FT02 case - Two AP183 180mm and two Arctic P14 PWM PST ARGB 140mm case fans
      Ambient temperature = 18.2 degrees

PS120SE heatsink - Fans, Silent Wings 4 120mm in middle, Phanteks T30 on the back, both running around 900-1000 rpm, barely audible

      5950x PPT 152w TDC 105A EDC 165A CPU 108w
      Cinebench 20 - 9719 points 64.3 degrees
      Aida64 CPU stress test - 70 degrees

      5950x PPT 152w TDC 85A EDC 165A CPU 81w
      Cinebench 20 - 8765 points 56.5 degrees
      Aida64 - 62 degrees

      5950x PPT 185w TDC 105A EDC 185A CPU 108w
      Cinebench 20 - 9351 points 64.4 degrees
      Aida64 73 degrees 132w

      5950x PPT 145w TDC 105A EDC 165A CPU 108w
      Cinebench 20 - 9448 points 64.4 degrees
      Aida64 67 degrees 114w

      Silverstone FT02 case - Two AP183 180mm and two T30 120mm case fans

      Ambient temperature = 17.2 degrees

      5950x PPT 142w TDC 105A EDC 165A CPU 108w
      Cinebench 20 - 9592 points 63.2 degrees
      Aida64 65.2 degrees 112w

These high end fans cooled about 10 degrees better than the stock fans and while being whisper quiet.
The stock fans when set to a fast and noisey setting could get closer though, but when at 750rpm to match noise levels, way off

      • Really helpful, thanks! I'll see if I can get some high static pressure ones. Be Quiet's are my go-to's usually.

        • Silent Wings 4s, the non pro ones are sufficient

On special at PC Case Gear for $27

    Showing as $52.90

But PS120 SE still showing as $58.90

    Ordered the PS120 SE

    Thanks!

    • $6 well spent. Ball-tearer of a hsf…

  • Fantastic cooler. Best bang for buck improvement to my PC, maybe ever.

coincidentally linus tech tips put out a video on cooling a few hours ago with this being top of the list for "does what u need for gaming"

I bought a coolmaster H412R off eBay for $39 delivered. Not as big as this one but you'd have to be going pretty hard for it to not be enough. I've found it was surprisingly good for the price.

    • +1

The one in this deal is pretty big and could be overkill for many. The one I've posted above is a bit more of a regular size and could have less fitment issues.
