Harry Potter Wizard's Collection Box Set (Blu-Ray + DVD + UV Copy) [Region Free] £154.96

Not necessarily a new deal. However, I just put one of these collections away for my girlfriend's birthday gift and paid for shipping (non-express) and gift wrap. The price on the site says 177.99 but I can confirm that with delivery and gift wrap it comes to £154.96.

  • I recommend going to the US Amazon store and reading a few of the user comments about this box set if u r actually thinking of buying this.

    Short version:
Looks nice, but is mainly just all the Ultimate editions in a fancy cardboard box a with a few novelties. The "never released" extra features are just the features that will be included in the ultimate editions of movies 7 & 8 which haven't been released YET. Only movies 1 & 2 have the extended editions.

And as for price comparisons, JB Hi-Fi have this set listed for $459 !!!!!!
    www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/kids-family/harry-pot…
and the normal 10 disk (or 11 disk Premium edition) bluray collection of mainly just the movies is only around $99-129
So if u can justify the extra features and a few novelties for an extra $100-130 then go on buy this deal.

£154.96 = AU$231.42 approx at time of writing

  • I also pre-ordered from here a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by the reduced price at checkout - I think this is the VAT being removed or similar???

I don't have any of the movies in any format so I think this is a great deal.

Not sure the comments on Amazon US are that reliable since they don't actually have the product… Check out this 'unboxing' vid and decide for yourself :) Looks good to me! Much bigger than I expected, too!

      You've got to be kidding.

Sure, it would be nice (especially as at a glance we don't know what the price is ex-VAT), but if you can take the time to post, you can take the time to hit Ctrl + E and type "155 GBP in AUD".

We've discussed this in the forums a few months ago — basically "not worth it" as it's no where "complete".

Also check the CamelCamelCamel link — it has pretty much been the same price since mid-April.

  • I (and many others)bought a box set of the first 6 films for around $30, if i remember correctly, from Amazon.co.uk around about 2 yers ago. Yes there not the super duper versions and it lacks the last two movies but what a massive price difference!

  • Might be a good release for die hard fans, but even then I struggle to call it a bargain even if the price is competitive with elsewhere. At over $200 for eight films, it seems very expensive when compared to say the upcoming Bond release or many TV Series sets.

Unless you're a die hard, I'd go the much cheaper sets that have all the films which from memory last I looked were closer to $60AU or so. Might miss out on the extended editions, but then again I'm sure in 12 months there will be a new set with the other films in an extended format.

    • I think it is more than just the movies and Blu-Rays, but for die hard fan who want collectibles. See this ads released by WB — you get lots of extra material, maps, booklet, etc.

The main problem, as spelt out already in this thread, is that this collection is no where near "complete". I am sure WB is going to release yet another collector's boxset when ultimate edition is released for both Deathly Hallow films. So even for fans — why buy now when it's soon going to be superseded?

      • Yeah I'm sure there is a lot there for the die hards, and the price is probably good if thats the edition you are set on. Still, it feels a bit like calling a $5000 saving while buying a ferrari a bargain. It may be cheaper, but it still aint cheap.

If I was buying it, I think I'd rather they saved the money and got rid of the DVD copies as well.

But anyhow, I'm not the audience.
