    Hand-Held Mandoline Slicer

    Good deal for Captain Corelli

  • Thanks OP

If you buy within the next 10mins we'll include another slicer for FREE!

    • But wait! There's more!

  • Can anyone comment on how good this is?

How does it compare to Benriner?

    • +1

I have no other brands to compare to but I'm super happy with this. It's very sharp, cuts easy.

    • OXO is a decent brand, however I suggest learning how to use a knife (watch youtube and practice) and putting the money towards a decent knife and sharpener. Don't spend more than $100 unless you are buying a sword to hang on your wall.

It's heaps harder to produce long and thin, uniform slices of eg. zucchini with a knife. Or semi-translucent, round slices of onions.

There's room for a mandolin in every kitchen!

        • +1

Yeh the weird behaviour some people have "oh just get good with a knife"

Every professional/hobby kitchen should have a mandolin, $20 is nothing and they take up barely any space.

    • Yeah it’s good. Paid around the same price

    Chances of slicing a finger?

    • +2

      Worth trying I think 🤔

    • +1

This is one of the easiest tools for that, however a sharp knife will do as well.

      • This is 10x more likely as your hand is moving over the blade in a quick semi-uncontrolled manner unlike cutting with a knife where you are always in contact

Cut proof gloves solve this concern though for $10… You have to be confident with a mandolin to slice cleanly and there's no shame protecting your fingers 😅

        • This is 10x more likely

          What I was saying!

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Sorry it read like "a knife could do it as well so don't worry" 😅 Mandolin definitely gonna catch you out worse haha

  • The number of times I've wanted to slice my Mandolin and didn't have the correct implement. Joyous days ahead.

    • Party time, Excellent

  • Moff Gideon might be interested in one of these for when he seeks revenge against the Mandoloriane

Had one of those in the past, used it once but it's junk. You need something rigid & sturdy. I imagine the OXO one is much better quality, going on their other gear I own.

    • Completely different tool - a mandoline is more versatile and less safe than the gimmick you linked to.

The mandoline from this deal can't julienne, but I wouldn't expect great effects from the other - sticks are most probs short and not super straight, ie. ugly.

I have this one, please don’t use it if you are in a rush or have had a couple. I couldn’t play guitar for a while :( reminds me of that Jeremy Clarkson scene in the farm when he is making potato chips!

    • I got cut proof gloves for when I'm in a rush 😅
