Anyone got one? I heard on a TED talk you can get them for as low as $300. Would that be wholesale price?

There's a few threads on whirlpool but they seem to be >$1200.

    IIRC that ~$300 pricetag was referring to building your own using the Arduino board & the open source plans.

    As StewBalls says, it is mostly either commercial or hobbyists currently. If you are keen you can check out the RepRap project as a place to start.

    I am excited as to where this will lead in 5 years time.
