Dewalt DCS7485N-XJ 54V XR FlexVolt Cordless Brushless 210mm Table Saw - Skin Only $699 Delivered (Was $1129) @ Sydney Tools

540

Was waiting for DeWalt 7491 table saw deal for a while. But found this seems to be a good price. Not sure if it suits me well because I don't need battery powered at all and it's 8 1/5 inch.

Free 54v Battery & Charger via redemption.

Any deals on the corded models?

    • -2

Why do you need the corded model? This whole bundle just costs 699. Get another flexvolt battery and will go as good as a corded one.

      • +1

I think there's a small market for people looking for a portable mitre saw and an even smaller market for people after a portable TABLE saw.

        • The market is small due to their high RRPs. At 699 for a kit completed with a battery and a charger, it is really a no brainer if you need a table saw. I am sure you will eventually have the chance to appreciate the portability and this has potentially higher resale value should you decide to get rid of it.

          • -3

@truetypezk: You're a no brainer - eddyah's point was that table saws don't need to be battery powered, and they don't.

  • +1

Wont you get additional 5% off from Bunnings because of price beat guarantee? Should bring it down to $664.

Does Bunnings price beat Special Order

      • Make and model look the same with included battery bonus.

      • Very much doubt it, policy says "stocked" items only

        • +2

I thought they did do special orders, that the stocked item meant it had to be in stock at the place they were price matching.

    • I’ve called 2 Bunnings and they don’t price beat special order items

      • Got to find the right staff. My local Bunnings was more than happy to price beat a Big Joe (Kamado) recently

        • +2

That's right, Bunnings are full of confused staffs who just try to reject you in anyway.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yup agree. Tips: be courteous and be willing to try staff in the AM and PM (incl. driving around several Bunnings)

      • Try calling the customer support team. They have been helpful before in the past for me.

    • Actually, their price beaten policy is 10%, not 5%.

  • does this table saw come with the Saw Stop feature?

    • -1

      Did you see Saw?

    • +3

Only the Sawstop brand have that tech, it’s still under their patent. Won’t work with diamond tip blades though.

This is a good price if the blade size works for you. Wish Milwaukee would do a sale like this as all my gear is with them.

      • Festool are another brand with it - licenced from SawStop

        • +3

Festool and SawStop are owned by the same company

    • +1

I wish!! The price of a saw featuring the brake starts at about $2k for a decent saw. IMO stop saw should be a standard requirement due to how many digits it saves and other related injuries a year.
But as with all hand tools and power tools, common sense goes a long way to reducing any injury. Please use your brain people ☺

  • +1

Looking at this and found that the sliding compound mitre saw is $1,399 (26% off) https://sydneytools.com.au/product/dewalt-dhs780t2a-xe-54v-6…
Looks to be the same price as the saw on it own but the kit deal includes two batteries, dual charger and AC adapter.

    • +2

This is an older model that requires 2 batteries to work. Using the AC adapter can feel underpowered vs batteries
The skin you saw is more than likely the new model and a better unit overall. But for DIY purposes probably not too different.

      • Thanks for the insight, it seemed like an older model based on the product codes but I couldn't work out the differences between the two. The discount makes sense now. That's interesting too regarding the AC adapter being weaker than 2xbatteries.

  • +2

Thanks OP, had my eye on this as my first table saw since getting the Dewalt batteries from that awesome Bunnings deal a while back: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/726213.

The batteries have just been in the garage awaiting the day this table saw went on special. Thanks again.

  • Good price but 10" would be nicer.

    • +7

      Thats what SHE said

      • Actually that would be too uncomfortable and may end up in ER.

Based on my experience, I would recommend against using this type of saw unless you are a tradie who requires portability. Instead, I suggest investing a bit more to purchase something like a cabinet saw. You will benefit from a higher quality saw, which will ultimately save you time and effort.

    • +1

That's alot of saw for the odd woodwork project at home. What is bad about this saw exactly?

    • +3

Will it beat my $150 wonky Aldi table saw? I built a sauna with it.
      https://ibb.co/5nyKY1L
      https://ibb.co/r42HcPH

      • +1

It's all in the user experience. A cheap saw with a bad fence take more time adjusting to get perfect and accurate.

A good saw just makes life easier and quicker. How much is your time and effort worth?

        Did you upgrade the blade?

        Great job BTW.

      • +1

Nothing wrong with cheap tools but in general if you enjoy doing DIY for pleasure I would rather go with good tools to make the process more enjoyable.
If you use them for work, then a no brainer to get good ones to avoid unforeseeable downtimes.
Cheap tools are probably okay for people who don't really enjoy the DIY process but still want to get things done for cheap. That is pretty much the only usecase I can think of, especially in rich, developed countries like Australia.

      • Very nice. A pro job.

        • Thanks.
Honestly it was quite easy, however sourcing the materials was hard. I only used the Aldi table saw for a few long rips, the bulk of cuts was a hard to true Ryobi Mitre Saw.

    • If their 54v circular saw is anything to go by this table saw will have more than ample grunt for the work that's required of it, the portability is just the bonus of it

    • +2

      something like a cabinet saw.

Most of those are at least $2k+….

    • +1

What cabinet saw do you recommend that is only a bit more than this one?

      • -1

        cheaper :)

        .

    • Yes no question that a cabinet saw will be better but most people dont have the space and budget for one. Tamar has had the corded version of this in her shop and converted to replace a cabinet saw for a long time before she purchased a proper cabinet saw
I would say though if you are looking for something to help with your DIY project then this is perfect. If you are not specifically looking for a cabinet saw, then you really dont need a cabinet saw. You will know when you need to upgrade.

  • Got all excited untill 300 shipping for me, ripper deal otherwise

  • +1

Wouldn't this be a better buy?
Not cordless and has wheels for portability. Does the Dewalt have any additional features over the HiKOKI AC Table Saw?
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/hikoki-ac-table-saw_p0391193

    • 10 days after your comments, i am still trying to pick one between these two. Why in your opinion, is the Hikoki one a better buy?

      • +1

        i think its simple really
if you need portability, get the Dewalt. (smaller, easier to carry around sites and store), battery, fewer cuts, more battery changes. power saws consume lots of batteries. You'll probably need a few spare batteries to last you through the day. For example I was cutting some 2m long tables (1.2cm deep), my 4mah battery ran flat after 4 cuts…
if it's a table saw that will be left in garage or moved infrequently, get the HIKOKI. (bigger table, cut lots of wood without battery concerns), harder to transport despite wheels as it's bigger.
        Both are good brands

  • The DeWalt DWE7485-XE 1850W 210mm (it most direct competitor) has better reviews based on the dual rack & pinion fence system and materials used in the build.

Unfortunately the DeWalt DWE7485-XE is not on sale but the Hikoki is a good choice especially at the price. I picked the DeWalt DWE7485-XE over the Hikoki due to its more compact size for my situation.

    • HIKOKIs also have rack & pinion fences on their table saws, is there any difference between the 2 brands? I bought a bosch over Dewalt a few years ago to save $100, it still hurts today.

      • I just bought the hikoki corded for $699 as my first table saw and am happy so far. Checked out the fences of dewalt versus hikoki on display models and dewalt definitely nicer but 10" dewalt corded saw is almost double the price of hikoki. Hikoki mitre slot /gauge has a fair bit of play which I'm still working on fixing, (might just have to build a sled). The rip cuts I'm getting are amazingly accurate so yeah whilst the dewalt fences move nicer the hikoki is still rack and pinion and perfectly accurate 👍.

Table on my hikoki is almost perfectly flat. Not quite. Having to position 0.1 degree different for left side versus right side for perfect 90 degree cuts, (I think for jobsite saw this is good tho). Overall very happy though as I think the problems I have the dewalts have these also (Tamar from 3x3 custom says issues with table flatness and mitre slots etc…) and they're so much more expensive than hikoki etc etc… Happy hikoki corded man here 😀

        • +1

Thanks for the input mate. Likely I'll upgrade to a Hikoki cordless in the future since I'm already in the system.

        • +1

Definitely not going to get a perfectly flat table on anything but a solid cast iron cabinet saw, and even then perfectionists will complain. With the job site saws, as long as you know what the offset is and can accurately compensate for it, you're all good - sounds like you do.

          • @beeroll: Cool thanks for this info mate. Would love to have a play with a cabinet saw 1 day maybe!!!
And yep I think the hikoki is pretty good for job site (although maybe luck of the draw here also as I've read some reviews from US where I think they've sold alot of this saw where people reckon it's super not flat). I actually first tried to see if I could get away with the $250 ozito table saw for my needs, but this thing was a real peice of shit and went for a refund pretty quick smart!!! 😂

  • Bought. Thanks OP

  • +1

Bought one. I need to stop looking at this site. I do have a use for it though. Got the Vacuum already to go with it.

  • +2

Does this work well cutting croissants?

  • Is this the cheapest it has been?

  • +1

Any idea what kind of timeframe to expect for the battery and charger to be delivered after they're redeemed?

Don't have any Dewalt batteries of my own already, so hoping the saw wont have to sit in my shed for months, unused, waiting for them to arrive.

    • +2

I have claimed from DeWalt before and it was approved the following day, with it being in my hands approx. 1 week later.

    • +1

Ive had around 6 dewalt redemptions, Quickest was probably 2 weeks but many were a couple of months or more

    • Battery just arrived, so probably a week after I redeemed them on the website.

    • Got my Charger and Battery delivered today. Purchased saw on the 3rd.

  • I think this is a really good deal. Need to convince myself every few hours that I don't need this.

I'm an occasional DIYer and I have an elcheapo tracksaw that I just bought some parallel guides (Woodpeckers K.O version) for which makes it pretty quick to do accurate and repeated cuts but setting it all up takes some time.
Tablesaw would be heaps quicker but I feel that you also need to set up some in/out feed supports for longer/wider sheets whereas the tracksaw would be more forgiving doing less than 2400x1200 sheets as long as you have a decent flat surface

    • I finally decided to let it go and wait for the corded version

    • Even people with table saws often have track saws for breaking down sheets. Really big sheets on anything but a proper panel saw makes for some really sketchy cuts.

  • +2

I have this model and this is perfect to do a rip-cut.
When I bought this, guys from Total tools recommended a plunge saw but I ended up buying this as track saws or plunge saws cannot do a rip cut which is narrower than its track unless you have some support.

The only downside of this table saw is it is about 25kg and you may need a stand to do better job.
I ended up buying a stand with wheels and total weight is about 40kg…

Apart from it, this price is very good. I paid like 1200 dollars.

For those who cannot decide what to buy, think this way, you can easily make 10x10 beadings with any timbers and also very easy to make 42mm architrave to 40mm, 35mm or even less

    • Can a mitre saw stand be used as a stand for the table saw? i have the Ryobi stand.

      • +1

Not sure about it. As long as the Ryobi one has brackets you should be able to use it. There are two M6 or M8 (don't remember) holes on the leg of the table saw to fix to the bracket.
Dewalt one is 2 bars with dewalt style clip.

Looks like Bunnings are price matching as well:

Dodgy Bunnings! I requested a price beat and they have just gone and lowered the price

      • Mine is $629.10 probably before they lowered and match their price.

        • I requested a price beat by email and they replied saying they can price match and then the next day price was lowered to $699.

Did you buy at $629.10 from Bunnings?

  • Received mine a few days ago and it has 2 tracks, where as all the images I can find including on their website it only has one mitre track. Also comes with a metal mitre gauge rather than the plastic one seen everywhere online. Weird… Maybe a new model?

    • Can I ask where you bought yours from? Sydney tools or Bunnings?

      • Sydney Tools. Was delivered next day, fantastic service.

    • +1

You're lucky! I ordered one and it got shipped to the nearest Sydney Tools store, and it has a single track and the plastic mitre gauge.

      • Mine also has two tracks and metal mitre gauge. To be honest, I never noticed the image with the single track. Picked up from Sydney Tools North Lakes, Qld.

Got the Charger and Battery delivered today.

        • Can you post an image of the dual tracks and the model number badge on the saw? I'm wondering if the model is slightly updated, thus has a different model number

          • @tor: Photos

Would be interested to know if yours differs.

            • @Jebus: Yes mine is a type 3, yours says type 10. Yours is made in China while mine is made in Taiwan. (Unless they're just towing the line with the Chinese and calling it all China.) Your plate doesn't have a serial number by the look of it. Mine starts with 2021, so I assume that's the production year. Photo; https://imgur.com/a/3kZVlX9

              • @tor: Mine has a serial number that starts with 2023 so I guess that confirms a quietly updated model.

          • @tor: I'll post a pic or two tomorrow night.

            • @NevC: Mine is the same as the pics posted above.

  • +1

Not expired at Bunnings - https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-54v-xr-210mm-flexvolt-tab…? - still $699 right now

    • It went back to $1129.00.
