    What a save!

Be honest, when did you personally come to realise that Rocket League has now become an interactive billboard for big (mostly car) brands in order to influence the developing brain chemistry of its (mostly) young player base for future investments?

    • +4

      the day it became F2P

      • You didn't catch on with the Maclaren right before F2P?

    • +1

Games like Rocket League who can't really spice up the game because of it's mechanics need to consistently improve it's content delivery, so it's fair enough. Employees still need to eat. It's a great game.

    • Oh please, with all the other, less "moral" advertising and video games (and in other places) that kids are subjected to these days, some car company ads and other relatively light marketing is the last thing you should be worried about.

      • -1

Yes. Ignore one thing because others are worse. Pat yourself on the back. You're an ethical powerhouse

        • -1

No, I'm ignoring it because it is borderline harmless. You're just looking for a reason to clutch your pearls…

          • -1

@Gina Rinehart: Your hostility is immense. Settle down big boy. Unless you have stocks in Epic, my statement doesn't harm you either, so I don't see why you feel the need to suggest I'm "clutching pearls".

Your idioms earn you no clout here.

  • Not being good at this game is very frustrating. I play it all the time now just because of the feeling of being inadequate and it seems that improvement is like 90% muscle memory

    • What rank are you?

      • Just dropped to Silver 4 i think in 3's

        • +2

Then you got some ways to go (there's no silver 4. Maybe Silver 3, Division 4?).

It ends up becoming a lot more than muscle memory. To get out of gold you're going to need to develop aerial attacks. Plat requires strong defense, diamond is all about situational rotations.

I'm at Champ and my pace and skills are not good enough yet to get out of Champ 1.

        • It's entirely based on the hours you put in (provided they're spent between games and training) - you put in the numbers, and you'll see the improvement without fail. Some need more hours than others to reach the same goal, but I've never played a game that fits the "practice makes perfect" idiom better than RL. You might just need to spend a bit more time in training packs rather than games atm.

          • @AudioZebra: But on that note, if you're putting in directionless hours, your improvement will be slow. Like an instrument. If you pick up a guitar and just strum away on the same four chords you're unlikely to improve after a certain point.

            • @Faro:

(provided they're spent between games and training)

I was implying that putting in the effort to improve was a given

              • @AudioZebra: It's super easy to spend time in free play just trying to air dribble rather than practicing things like wave-dashing, speed-flips, half-flips, pre-flips, etc. (I am guilty of this)

You'd also probably be surprised how many people also fall into that category

Also unless you're in the "community" (YouTube, Reddit I guess, etc) you're not even going to necessarily know how to do these things or what these terms even mean

                • @Faro: Doesn't really matter what you choose to start with, as long as you're practising some sort of mech or skill then it's productive. Someone who spends 100 hours in free play learning how to air dribble is going to gain better overall air and ball control - it carries into other aspects of the game. Once you get bored with that, you start learning other new mechs/how to rotate/better positioning etc.

I'd say for most it starts with trying to learn one mech for a solid stint of time just cause you think it's cool, and then pathway into other stuff when the hours start racking up. Not saying the mechs you mentioned aren't needed to improve, it's just no one's gonna air dribble for 1000 hours without also looking up and learning other stuff too haha (also stuff like wave-dashing, speed-flips, half-flips & pre-flips you master in matches rather than training, at least once you've got the basics down).

Anyone know what time this becomes available? Not seeing anything in the item shop as yet.

  • Of topic, does anyone know how I can get a delorean body cheap or credits?
