Bought one during the last sale. Turned out sour when all reviews described it as sweet. Was quite disappointed.
Awesome Beer brand. The Rogue Dead Guy Ale is unbeatable, but expensive.
This stuff is chocolate syrup in a can. Bares little resemblance to a stout.
It's like saying a coffee with three shots of hazelnut syrup is still coffee. I mean it is, but it isn't.
There's a reason this particular beer is often discounted or on clearance sale. It does not travel well. It very well could be a nice drop when fresh at the source, but the stuff we get in Australian bottleshops isn't worth the asking price. Even at $8 for 4-pack it's not worth the effort of getting it.
There are many, many other Rogue beers that are awesome. Dead Guy IPA, Dad's Little Helper, Santa's Private Reserve, (Voodoo Doughnut - although you need to be partial to Rauchbier to appreciate this one), Yellow Snow, but my favourite is "New Crustacean Barleywineish Imperial IPA Sorta".
