Find Me a Laptop + Lunchbox Bag

I'm looking for a new bag for work that can carry a laptop but also my lunch box which looks like this

My lunch box typically has sauce and I've had problems in the past where it leaks if i store it sideways in the bag.

Is there a bag that can allow me to store my lunch box flat at the bottom but also a compartment for the laptop?

eg do you commute? how big is too big? budget? eg I have a crumpler kingpin, and osprey porter 30, but i would say at least a majority of normal people would say both way too big and many would say too expensive too for a bag.

    • This was what I was using before and it was a good size - just wish it had a better way of storing my lunch box since sometimes it flips sideways while I'm commuting and everything leaks.

I would prefer an all-purpose bag that I can take to the office as well as on interstate trips. Osprey Porter 30 is probably too big for work.

      Budget is probably $100-$200 max.

  • I carry a Timbuk2 Messenger good for short work trips, my model has an 18cm deep flat base

  • I actually used one of these for that kind of thing on the commute:https://www.strandbags.com.au/products/flylite-odyssey-carry-on-under-seat-bag-3193347?variant=42552718655646
Added bonus of fewer shoulder- strain related migraines. I had to stop because I got a newer laptop that's too big for it. I looked at the bigger "portable office" bags but couldn't really justify the amount of outlay.

I now use a back pack for cases where I have a lot of walking to do and I am not doing anything that requires a more professional look (similar to this: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/high-sierr…) that you could possibly put the lunchbox in the bottom of flat (maybe with a bit of card or something to keep it stiff). A few High Sierra ones have the laptop in a separate compartment that would possibly be sauce safe

If you are of a handbag-using gender, Strandbags have some really nice laptop handbags that I use if I do need to be professional looking or where a backpack is a bit much. On those days I have lunch in one of these: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/310586 . Strandbags also has some nice messenger style laptop bags if you aren't of a handbag wearing inclination. The big advantage of the separate cooler bag thing is you have full control over the trajectory of the lunchbox, and you can put things in there you need to easily access without having to take your backpack off.

What options have you found - links - pics?

I use exact same lunch box. I put liquids/sauce/mayo etc in a bottle - never leaks - easy.

There are hundreds of options online to purchase.
