  • Full turbo is powerful enough to start fires in just a few seconds, especially when
    aimed at dark-colored materials

    I'm listening…

  • Got an HS40, using it now with my daughter, looking for bugs on our walk.
    Impressive for the price.

    • is the medium mode bright enough to keep it on that while outdoors or is turbo a must?

      • +1

late response - turbo is not used much for <10m, if I'm looking for animals in trees its good, but for seeing where we are going, the mid level brightness is plenty.

  • Looking for a torch with zoom function so it can switch between wide throw and focused point.

    • +4

If I recall correctly from a r/flashlight post, some users were suggesting the Convoy Z1 if you're after for 'zoomable' flashlight.

      EDIT: this reddit post

  • Any good deals on HS20 and Q8 plus?

    • Unfortunately the GeForest Aliexpress Store has a very limited range of Sofirn Torch

  • Nice deal, picked up the IF22A for $31.30 (inc GST). Thanks. Probably my 4th Sofirn torch.

  • Hs40 vs SP40a ?
    Which one is better??

    • +3

From Sofirn HS40 Product Page - The difference between SP40 and HS40:

      1. SP40 with XPL LED or LH351D LED while The HS40 with Luminus SST40 LED bulb
      2. SP40 is 1200 lumen max while HS40 is 2000 lumen max
      3. SP40 with 4 kinds of modes while HS40 with 8 modes & step-less Ramping
      4. SP40 is 5V 1A rechargeable while the HS40 is 5V 2A rechargeable, faster charging
      5. SP40 is Micro USB charging port while HS40 is Type-C charging port
      6. SP40 is one-way clip while the HS40 with Dual-way clip
      7. SP40 without Strobe while HS40 with Strobe and lock-out function
      8. SP40 and HS40 has different knurling on out-looking

      From r/flashlight:

SP40 has a reflector, microUSB charging, and a high CRI LH351D emitter. The SP40A is the same thing but with a TIR lens instead of a reflector. The HS40 has a reflector, USB-C charging, and an SST-40 emitter for more lumens but low CRI.

  • Thanks OP, was looking for a deal on IF22A and finally got one with this.

  • Looking for an EDC torch also suitable for bikes. Which one would be better? SC 18 vs SC 31 Pro vs IF22A.

    • +5

I have SC31 Pro and SP35, and just purchased IF22A

TL:DR. buy SP35 if you dont mind, else buy SC31 pro

My personal recommendation(tho not on your option) is SP35
Why: SP35 uses much efficient buck converter, less heat, more efficient and can hold 1000lm throughout your use. Moreover it uses 21700cell so bigger battery which can be a plus if you don’t mind slightly more bulkier profile than SC18 or SC31

Can’t comment on SC18 since I never had one

For SC31 pro, it is definitely a wonderful light other than green tint issue some people experience. However it is relatively worse than SP35 in terms of efficiency and its ability to hold higher brightness for longer time, but I wouldn’t really care honestly.
SC31 pro is definitely less bulky compared to SP35 and can be something to consider if you want to put your light in jeans pocket rather than belt or sth.

IF22A is definitely a fun light from what I know, but it will be a big burden to carry in pocket due to how a thrower light is structured as. Moreover people generally prefer floody light than IF22A for edc, so I wouldn’t recommend it for your purpose

      • Thanks, one can easily get lost with so many different torches to choose from.

  • thanks op i ordered the If22 21700 torch for a bit more longer lasting battery power using a 21700 battery rather than an 18650 battery and not sure how jacked up au$109 might be to begin with but au$35 after tax delivered seems like a pretty good price for it :)

  • My Sofirn HS40 arrived this morning, only took ~1 week shipping from China…
